Thoughts on this fold? I have been trying to work on letting go of TPTK and overpairs when I feel like I am beat. Stacking off with these hands have somewhat been a leak in my game.

Had about 65 hands on villian at this point and he was playing about 16/7

If you didn’t have the information to prove they wouldn’t raise with worse hands, I think would consider calling/folding. The fact they check raised seems to indicate a strong hand. This is exactly how I play out most of my sets. Check back to raiser and then check raise. But we can’t always assume big hand.

The issue with calling though is hero checks the turn and villain raises hero now has to decide if they will call again and that is an extremely hard decision for me personaly and I tend to mess it up. I make the same mistake you make and it is something I am trying to fix. I just love having an ace pair and it gets me calling behind sometimes.

So overall I think folding is the best option.

In the odd event you see you folded the better hand just note it and dont feel too bad. I think it is better to avoid making a mistake then risking one. If at any hand in the past you see them raise in a spot like this with top pair and weak kicker, or worse, then I would be more likely to call and try to get to showdown.

Damn man, I'd call that a tough fold to make, but very disciplined of you.

I'm curious, what did you put him on? Was he in a pot previously with a flop like that and how did he react?

I think the worst for you would be if he had Js or AK Club. My thoughts are As are not likely for all 4 to be on deck. I know it happens but rarely.

I apreciate your play for folding TPTK , BUT i think you being in position you should see turn here if and if it is blank and he checks then probably you are ahead and you should fire, something more he could be re raising with only flush draw or weaker A, so i won't fold that easily unless i am not 100% he got a set on flop or 2 pair (almost not possible).

I put his range as 22, Axcc AJ, JJ or air which I strongly doubt since my preflop actions would have tons of aces in my range and my hand was pretty obvious.

I somewhat agree but what if I called and he leads out on turn? Do I just fold there instead after putting a 3rd of my stack in the middle? I really don't like the idea of calling just to hope villain checks the turn to me because that is basically what I would of been doing. I did consider it though, I would of had to put roughly 18BB's into a roughly 50BB pot which isn't to bad of odds getting a little more than 2 to 1. My biggest concern was what he was going to do on the next street.

@Zerik, I wish I could take notes for the future but this is unfortunately Bovada :(

Right, I experience that myself and I also play on Bovada. At the very least though if you spot that player # do something odd you can sort of remember it during that session. For example “That crazy player 5 bluffs the river with air”…etc

Villain check raises the pre-flop aggressor with another player to act behind him on a A high board? Strong move and like you say, your hands fairly obvious. There's some argument to be made for calling but that mainly relies on him having a worse ace and he believes you may have KK-QQ. If that's the case I think he'd be check/calling most weak aces and only check raising A2, AJ, AQ, AT and Ax clubs, broadway combo draws or air. He can easily be check raising sets. Unless he's got AQ or lower off suit (aside from 2 pair) everything else has you beat or has a decent amount of equity against you. I can get way too carried away here and invest too much of my stack with TPTK, so I'd say it was a good fold and avoided a potential situation with a 1 pair hand IMO

Forgot about this but Bovada lets you see hands after 24 hours and villain had J8s with diamonds.... =\

Wow, mental note right there... Well if he's capable of check raising mid pair on a ace high board dude, the above range I posted needs changing pmsl ;)

On another note, I stacked off with TPTK twice tonight (well not stacked off, one villain was a short stack), both had sets... Looks like the player pools a bit weaker on Bovoda lol

Only joking by the way, still think its gonna be a good fold against a LOT of players

Lol, I should of known better than to fold TPTK to a raise at the micros.. I'll save those for 25NL, I hate being unable to keep longterm notes!!!
