This player has been at the table for 9 hands and this is the first time that they have bet, so no stats and no reads and no notes. I'm new to 5nl, so even if I had met them at 2nl I assume that the stats wouldn't show anyway.

Poker Stars - $0.02/$0.05 No Limit Hold'em (8 players)
Poker Stars Hand Converter Tool from CardsChat.com

SB: $1.82
BB: $0.73
UTG: $5.61
UTG+1 Hero: $3.67
MP: $5
MP+1: $3.24
CO: $5.48
BTN: $1.86

Pre-flop: ($0.07) Hero is UTG+1 and dealt :jc4: :js4:
UTG folds, Hero raises to $0.20, 3 folds, BTN raises to $0.50

As I am OOP I assume that good advice would be to fold here?

You are thinking on the correct line to fold here but imo it's not too big of a price to pay to see a flop and hope we flop a set. If not check/fold the flop. Probably a gf here tho. On second thought what WVH says below makes much sense. I totally overlooked that.

No. My 1st question is the obvious why do you have less than 100bb?

After that notice that he's got less than a 1/2 stack. That means he's bad. Put him all in.

You've already answered your own question... just change "he's" to "she's" in your penultimate sentence :p

Also the minimum reload at 2nl is 50c so I assume that the min reload at 5nl is $1.
Put him all in.
I wish I had done that actually, it would have made life a lot simpler post-flop

Hero checks, BTN bets $0.76, Hero folds, BTN returned $0.76

Play full stacked. If you're not comfortable/rolled for that at 5nl, drop back down.

That will be my only advice to you from this point forward if I see a hh where you started with less than 100bb.

When I was playing at 2nl and I tried to top up by about 30c, back to 100bb, I was told that it was below the minimum top up. So you guys are saying that you can top up a few cents at a time on PS?

Yep. Just turn on auto top-up. It will make sure you start EVERY hand with a full stack.

Well I turned on auto top-up a few weeks back, but then I started to worry because I hit a bad day and found that I wasn't sure whether I was losing a lot of money, because it happens without you knowing about it. So I turned it back off again. Anyway, I'll turn it back on now.. ;)

It's not really about losing money, it's more about being in control of what's going on.

Its a form of tilt to worry about if your having a losing session. You have to just play your game and try to make the most +ev decisions that you can. Having auto-top up will make it hard to keep tabs on your session and make it feel like you have no control but you have to get over it.

Thanks yes, I think I have. That took place a few weeks back when I was even newer to ring games than I am now, and I have now switched it back on. Also my bankroll is a lot healthier now, mainly due to winning at 2nl.

you should just drop back to 2nl with auto top on and play for 2hrs without looking at results and focusing on making the most optimal plays. it mite help you get over that fear
