I didn't bet the flop as I believed nothing worse is going to call. But unsure if I should have raised the turn?
River is probably a fold?

3-bet is way too small preflop. If you want fold equity, make it at least 3x. I prefer 3x, but some do pot-sized/3.5x. Check on flop is good. Flat turn. Folding river is fine. Not much you're beating, and that's a bad card for him to bluff at once you call the turn. I'm guessing he had a set/AK.

Why did you 3 bet pre? As a bluff? River I would call without reads in 5NL and if we had him tagged as fishy, but fold to someone I know is decent.

The only street I think you played well is the river. Which is the only one you're asking about ironically. Pre-flop, flop, and turn are all not played ideally.

You should be asking yourself why am I doing X right now? What am I trying to accomplish, before you make your decisions.

I agree with John and I don't understand your reasoning here.

Preflop - You're in position with a decent hand that plays well multi-way and not particularly well against things that are going to call 3bets OOP (think AJ, AQ, AK, big PP which all dominate you). Unless you were 3betting as a bluff (which based on your reads you should have no reason to, 3betting will only result in you being dominated by something else (okay you're IP but it's still awkward). I like calling here pre.

On the flop - why aren't we betting here? We can get value from certain things (10 10, AK, AQ, even 99 and 88), and we might even take down the hand if the person is super tight and would fold AJ here ( if not on the flop then on the turn).

On the turn - barreling as a semi-bluff to represent a big hand is good - you can make AJ fold here possibly - and you still get value from some worse hands.

As played call river his story isn't strong enough to beat QJ sure he might have a set but he could easily be valuing AQ. River is a strange position as played and I'm not as convinced about it as the other streets.
