$5 NL HE Full Ring: A few confusing hands... a better format!

pokerstars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.05 BB (7 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

BB ($7.28)
UTG ($7.08)
MP1 ($6.78)
MP2 ($1.60)
Hero (CO) ($4.08)
Button ($12.50)
SB ($10.87)

Preflop: Hero is CO with A
heart.gif
, K
diamond.gif

3 folds, Hero bets $0.20, 1 fold, SB calls $0.18, BB raises to $0.50, 1 fold, SB calls $0.30

Ok its folded around to me at the CO so I make the standard raise. The SB calls and the BB 3bets me to 50c. I am getting 3:1 to call IP but I have no real stats and must assume the average 3bet of 5.4% for him. I guess his range has me crushed but with those odds, should I have called?

Flop: ($1.20) 6
heart.gif
, 2
spade.gif
, 3
diamond.gif
(2 players)
SB checks, BB bets $0.60, SB calls $0.60

SB ($5.79)

MP1 ($4.77)
MP2 ($0.56)
CO ($3.83)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 10
diamond.gif
, A
heart.gif

4 folds, CO calls $0.02, Hero bets $0.08, SB calls $0.07, 1 fold, CO calls $0.06

Pretty standard raise here on the B with one limper.

Flop: ($0.26) 10

, 4
club.gif
, 6
club.gif
(3 players)
SB checks, CO bets $0.10, Hero raises to $0.24, 1 fold, CO raises to $3.75 (All-In), Hero folds

I make TPTK on a reasonably dry board and have position against 2 others, one of which bet weakly in to me. Was I right to raise him or should I have merely called?

He then 4bet shoves, I put him on a set or slow played monster pair and I fold.

Total pot: $0.74 | Rake: $0.03

Results below:
CO didn't show
Outcome: CO won $0.71

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (7 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

heart.gif

UTG bets $0.08, 3 folds, Button calls $0.08, Hero raises to $0.28, 1 fold, UTG calls $0.20, 1 fold

I 3bet from the small blind and go to the flop OOP against the one caller.

Flop: ($0.66) 7
diamond.gif
, K
spade.gif
, K
club.gif
(2 players)
Hero bets $0.62, UTG calls $0.62

If I was IP here I would think WAWB and take a free card if offered but OOP I figure I must bet.

Turn: ($1.90) 6
diamond.gif
(2 players)
Hero bets $1.32 (All-In), UTG calls $1.14 (All-In)

I dont think the turn changes much. Its not a great place to be so I figure my usual turn Cbet of 2/3-3/4 pot is right here too!
This puts him all-in and well...

River: ($4.18) 5
spade.gif
(2 players, 2 all-in)

Total pot: $4.18 | Rake: $0.20

Results below:

Preflop: Hero is CO with 9
club.gif
, 9
heart.gif

UTG bets $0.20, 3 folds, Hero raises to $0.70, 3 folds, UTG calls $0.50

I guess that 3betting the UTG raiser here with 99 from the CO is a little loose.. but aggressive so not TOO bad!

Flop: ($1.47) K
heart.gif
, 3
club.gif
, 6
spade.gif
(2 players)
UTG bets $0.30, Hero calls $0.30

He makes a pathetic bet in tio me and I think WAWB again and just call.

Turn: ($2.07) 2

UTG checks, Hero checks

The turn goes check check. and I now feel that he has very little.

River: ($2.07) 6

An easy-ish call :)

Standard raise at short table here.

Flop: ($0.17) 2
spade.gif

(2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks

Top pair, very dry board with dubious kicker. Think WAWB again!

Turn: ($0.17) K
heart.gif

BB bets $0.06, Hero folds

Now the overcard has come and he bets in to me I erm.... give.... up.
Did I play this hand like a pussy?

Woah, dude... You might want to post 1 hand at a time?

Anyway, Hand 1...
BB makes a near min-raise 3-bet and you have AK... Well, you've opened from the CO and the SB calls and the BB 3-bets... This is called a squeeze... It's 5NL, I think you've got to make a big 4-bet to about $1.5 here so that you've got a nice price to call if he shoves. You have AK which is at worst flipping against anything apart from AA/KK, both of which you have blocker cards against. He can turn up with AA/KK here, but it's 5NL and given the positional dynamic here, I think you can get it in here profitably pre-flop. If you've got 50+ hands on this guy and he's a total nit and has never 3-bet, then you can get away from this as you only have 40% equity vs. QQ+/AK. It's 5NL though, so I doubt this is the case. Against most villains, this is far, far, far too tight of a fold.

Hand 2...
First things first, I'd iso-raise limpers to 5BB, and then add 1BB for every overlimper. I plan to fold to a 3-bet with ATo of course. On the flop you make TPTK... The thing with 2-tone boards is, villains are going to be shoving flush draws against you a lot, trying to maximize their fold equity and using their outs to back them up to give them enough showdown equity... I think he plays a draw like this a lot. If he had a set here, unlucky. If he has an overpair, you have 5 outs. I think he plays a draw like this more often, hell, it could even be air at 5NL. About your raise... If you plan to fold to a re-raise here, there's no point raising. If this villain is a maniac, I'm raising to protect my hand and get it in vs. nutty plays. If this villain is a standard TAG or a nit, I'm just calling here and re-evaluating on the turn. I'm most likely going to showdown here one way or another. One thing I will say that I think is of utmost importance is that you need to be posting villain's stats here. Their VPIP/PFR, and if it's a tricky post-flop situation we need their c-bet/FvsCB stats, their AF, their turn c-bet stat, their 3-betting/Fvs3B stats... Sometimes we don't need all of this, but we often need most of it...

I'm not even going to comment on Hand 3 because we need villain stats here before we decide how to play this pre-flop, and how to play it post-flop. Without villain stats, we're playing in the dark. I've got to watch Big Brother now, but please post 1 hand at a time, and please post stats and any notes you've taken on previous moves of villains in future. :)

definitely only make one hand per thread. I felt a lot of them were misplayed especially when it came to bet sizing, but the one that really got me was the J9 hand. BB calls and the board comes 2J2. BET. You most likely have the best hand here, im not seeing how its a wa/wb situation

One hand per thread please.

4bet / get it in in hand 1 unless you have stats that the BB is a total nit.

Like I said in the other thread, I think if you're going to check raise on the AQoff hand you need to do it for a lot more than 2x the flop bet to be convincing, especially into 2 other people. Also, did you have a read /stats/hunch or something about these guys that made you decide to play it that way?

Lots of hands so I'm gonna give a brief answer to each one but yeah, one to a thread please even though I like that you're posting. Here we go...

Hand 1

Definitely 4-bet get it in vs an unknown. I only change this when I see stats that show me they're nits. Calling works too if you're IP but folding is terrible.

Hand 2

Not sure about hand 2 as we'd really need stats on villain but the re-raise is fine.

Hand 3

I probably play this one the same, shame he has AK but he easy has 88/99/TT here too.

Hand 4

The pre-flop 3-bet is a little loose I prefer a call but after you do 3-bet you need to raise his flop bet I think, calling is ok though. Also it's not WA/WB at all as he could have QJ/JT etc.

Hand 5

A loose raise here unless you know what you're doing with that type of hand and from the play you don't. After that raise you're betting that flop 100% of the time and barrelling that turn. This isn't WAWB again, I think you need to re-read an article on it.

Hand 6

Bigger raise pre-flop more like .14 and then bet that flop, I don't like the check-raise. We're bloating the pot with middle pair and it's not good.

Hand 7

That last hand is pretty awful. Again raise more pre-flop if you're going to there, bet that flop, and for the love of god if you turn a set put some money in the pot.

Extra notes:

- Buy-in full and use auto top-up. You're losing value when you get your money in good and it also makes it harder to beat the rake, ALWAYS BUY-IN FULL AND AUTO TOP-UP. No excuses.

- Be more aggressive in certain spots, especially as the PFR (pre-flop raiser).

- Go back re-read whatever WA/WB article you read, I think it's in the Golden Archives.

- Look at c-betting, right now you're terrible at it, research it and find out what types of flops you want to be c-betting on, regardless of your hand. You missed a lot of value from checking some flops.

- When you're raising over limpers you need to raise larger, the general rule 100BB's deep is 3/4BB + 1 for every limper.

Good luck!

Hand 3 I don't like the turn shove. Check/call to let him bluff it off. Hard to see him calling with much worse when we shove the turn. You lose the same when he has the King but I think you'll see him show up with smaller pairs and even random hands like AQ that shove because they think you're giving up.

Just to re-emphasize, since no one else really has...

STATS, STATS, STATS, STATS, STATS, STATS, STATS... We need stats on villains, and other information like notes if possible, in order to properly say what the best line is. Otherwise you'll get lots of "it depends"
