SB posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has 9:club: 8:club:

fold, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 3 BB, SB raises to 9 BB, fold, Hero calls 6 BB

Flop: (19 BB, 2 players) 9:heart: 8:heart: A:spade:
SB bets 14.2 BB, Hero calls 14.2 BB

Turn: (47.4 BB, 2 players) 9:diamond:
SB bets 35.4 BB, Hero calls 35.4 BB

River: (118.2 BB, 2 players) Q:club:
SB bets 42.8 BB and is all-in, Hero calls 41.4 BB and is all-in

Thoughts on preflop? Folding to this aggression with anything less than 2 pair. Wouldn't have called 3bet oop.

With very little information on your opponent, I probably would have folded on the reraise preflop.

Hi. For me, with no information I fold to the pre-flop reraise, that said it's not a terrible price to call and you'll have position so it isn't too out of line.

Yeah I agree too, folding pre mostly, but sometimes calling.

An argument for raising flop bet can be made with bottom 2 on draw heavy board. No idea which is actually more profitable.

Yeah I agree, fold preflop to a guy who played one hand out of last 9. Later on when you have more stats and some plan how to make money you can call, but for now you know nothing and his range is crushing yours. You don't flop two pair, straights or flushes often enough to justify calling. You will often end up with just a 2nd pair, or top pair that is hard to fold or draws that will hit once in a five times...
However, sincce you called i think you can go ahead and raise there on the flop and try to stack the guy who will often have a Ace with good kicker there, and if he doesn't have it and has a pair he won't give you any actions on later streets with ace on the board. Of course you sometimes lose to aces but this is just a cooler.

I understand the raise by you as you were otb but I think I would have folded the re-raise. Having said that, you were in good shape stack-wise, sometimes you gotta take a chance. Suited connectors are good cards.

its fine to have suited connectors in BTNvsSB 3b calling range. It grants you good bord coverage and balances you in a good way. I would not assume this guy is a nit straight away because its only second orbit for him and maybe he just havent had an opportunity to 3bet.
