He could definitely have a J here. To me it feels like he could also have 55 and is hoping you put him all in on the turn. I don't think he's doing this with air since the 5 doesn't change anything unless he has 55. I think folding is a good option on the turn.

He's been playing tight over the hands you've observed, but also a question is how have you been playing? Not sure you can put much into your image but if you are playing a lot of hands you will get more action. Your re-raise on the flop is too small because he only needs to call 0.49 into a $1.60+ pot which is right to call with flush draw. His bet on turn indicates that he doesn't believe you have a jack and if he is any good he is pot committed with only about $2.50 left and pot at $3.44 so I would fold.

You could 3bet preflop?? His range from the CO is likely wide enough that he's not paying you off a set often enough to make it profitable to set mine anyway.

As played, why raise the flop??

cuz I'm bad. I rarely 3 bet with pocket pairs pf, is that something I should be doing more when I have position? I raised the flop because on that board it seemed likely to me he missed and would give it up without a fight.

So you were hoping that by raising the flop he would fold hands you're beating??? :)

As for 3betting with pp preflop. It depends. :) On the villain, their position, how often they fold to 3bets, how often they fold to cbets, how often they cbet, etc.,etc. You get the picture, it's right to do it, when it's right. It just seemed it might be right in the hand you posted.
