$5 NL HE 6-max: Whats the deal with a pair and a flush draw?

I read somewhere that you should never hesitate to put all your money in with a pair and a flush draw. But is that on the flop or the turn?

Here's what happened here

CO: $2.83 (56.6 bb)
BTN: $5 (100 bb)
SB: $6.70 (134 bb)
Hero (BB): $5 (100 bb)
UTG: $7.38 (147.6 bb)
MP: $6.72 (134.4 bb)

Pre-Flop: Hero is BB with 9

2 folds, CO raises to $0.20, 2 folds, Hero raises to $0.62, CO calls $0.42

Why did I re-raise here? I figured a pair of nines is likely to be the best hand and I realise I should have re-raised 4 times the bet since I would be OOP. Folding can also be an option here IMO.

Flop: ($1.26) 7

Hero bets $1.26, CO calls $1.26

Here I figured to make a c-bet to win me the pot. I planned on shutting down if called cuz if I represented the ace and he still called.... I dont think I should automatially be scared of the ace.

Turn: ($3.78) 8

(2 players)
Hero bets $3.12 and is all-in, CO calls $0.95 and is all-in

But here comes my flush card and now I have outs to the flush and a set, but looking back its likely he could have a heart also. Reason wh I shoved? fold equity plus 11 outs to likely the best hand. And the guy was down to his last 90 cents.

River: ($5.68) 8

(2 players, 2 are all-in)

Results: $5.68 pot ($0.37 rake)
Final Board: 7

Here's hand # 2 where looking back I think I should have shoved on top of him.

SB: $4.74 (94.8 bb)
BB: $1.90 (38 bb)
UTG: $4.72 (94.4 bb)
Hero (MP): $5.22 (104.4 bb)
CO: $7.01 (140.2 bb)
BTN: $6.23 (124.6 bb)

Pre-Flop: Hero is MP with 6

UTG folds, Hero calls $0.05, CO raises to $0.20, 3 folds, Hero calls $0.15

Excuse my questionnable limp-calling OOP here with a small pair but its done.

Flop: ($0.47) 7

(2 players)
Hero bets $0.47, CO raises to $1.50, Hero folds

This was a little bit of a ''Scare fold'' I admit but should I have re-popped him?

Results: $1.41 pot ($0.09 rake)
Final Board: 7

CO mucked and won $1.32 ($0.65 net)

Thanks again

Well thanks

The pair and the flush draw situations that your talking about isnt referring to the situation where you have a small pair and a low flush draw on a 4 flush board. The situation for example is say you have j 10 of spades and the flop comes Jd 2s 3s. In this situation you have 2 hole cards to a flush making it much less likely that if another spades comes that villains have a flush themselves. Dont totally regard the possibility of an opponent having a higher flush draw its just much less likely. In that said situation if the way the preflop betting made it likely that the opponent had an overpair QQ+, you would have 14 outs to make the best hand making it essentially a coinflip. The edge in this hands comes because if you are the one to shove your opponent has to worry about sets and hands like yours where they may be flipping or only drawing to 2 outs. In both of those situations your hand is very marginal preflop and you may be drawing very close to dead.

First of all, 1 hand per post. You've gotten yourself in a really tough spot in the first hand, and you really don't need the second hand cluttering it up.

Second hand is easy, you limp called, your flush draw is to the like 6th nuts, it has no implied odds, I just check/fold the flop. I'm not excited about putting $ in on the flop with hand #2.

The first hand is a legitimate tough decision. You have a lot of ways to win the hand on the turn, but you're likely not ahead right now. And the toughest thing is that you have a hand that you can either raise or call preflop with. Preflop, his stats will really depend on what you should do. The looser he plays, the more inclined you should be to 3-bet.

And since villain has a 50bb stack, when we 3-bet, we should be looking to have less than a pot-sized bet left on the flop. We want to get really good & committed against his super wide range on the flop (because there will be lots of flops like this one where we'll be sorta lost). So I 3-bet to about $0.90 or just shove preflop to avoid all these weird "I'm almost committed but not quite and I'm really unsure about what to do" spots.
