$5 NL HE 6-max: Very stupid call on my part

Looking back, it was such a dumb call by me on the river. He obviously likely had a monster. Probably wouldn't be bluffing there. All I could think at the time was that he didn't raise from the button preflop so I didn't think he had an ace + higher kicker but he could easily have had paired one of the other cards or had what he had, a set. (making a fh)

Too big a range of hands that beat me for me to have called. Hopefully, next time, I"ll be smarter about this.

Seat 3 (BTN) has the button.
SB posts small blind [$0.02]
Hero posts big blind [$0.05]
Seat 1 : MP with $7.08.
Seat 2 : CO with $5.98.
Seat 3 : BTN with $5.30.
Seat 4 : SB with $6.48.
Seat 5 : Hero with $3.00.
Seat 6 : UTG with $3.29.

I've made that call plenty of times, and it rarely has gone well.

Generally, when someone raises on the river to 4X the pot at micro stakes, whether you think he's bluffing or not, it's best just to get out of the way. Wait for a better opportunity for you to control the action.

Sure, when people raise 4x the pot on the river, they almost always have the nuts. But then again, I wouldn't make a habit of laying down trips at these stakes either...

I'm sure you have much bigger leaks in your game to focus on.
