Pre Flop: (pot: $0.09) Hero has :Qh4: :Qs4:

Flop: ($0.45, 2 players) :8c4: :2c4: :4h4:
MP checks, Hero bets $0.23, MP calls $0.23

Turn: ($0.91, 2 players) :2s4:
MP checks, Hero bets $0.60, MP calls $0.60

River: ($2.11, 2 players) :4c4:
MP checks, Hero bets $0.80, MP calls $0.80

I elected to just flat call preflop as the villian had a tight opening range for 6 max and was folding to 3-bets a lot. The blinds were also reasonably tight and not to likely to come along. I hit the perfect board for slowplayed Queens and knew that I wasn't up against Aces or Kings when he took the c/c line. However the board does get scarier and double pairs while putting 3 cards to a flush out there. I don't know villian enough to say for sure but he could take this line with a flush draw.

Considering that I could be beat by the river is a checkback here at all acceptable or is this a standard bet/fold?

Also I think my bet sizing might be a little on the small side. I think I definitely should have bet more on the flop.

Agreed with John A... You've got no reason to believe your behind here and if you are behind just laugh it off... Because your controlling his winning hands as well as losing :)... So keep a note on this player and you can easily exploit.

River is a brick and a perfect card for you to bet to get value from A-high and smaller PPs.

IMO you played well this hand. Bet sizing is ok for me. Besides you are in position and when you are not sure if your hand is the best in this situation on the river, you can just check. It's a much safer solution.

Not getting value is terrible.
