Sorry for the HH being in the format it is. The HH are not available to import to HM2 for 24 hours. I would like some input on how I should play the hand.

I have only shown action until the turn, to see how you guys think I should proceed OOP with this hand.

My thoughts at the time were this:
  • I don't think villain pots the flop with a flush. Stinks to high heaven like weakness to me.
  • I raised OTF because I want to get value from hands that contain one heart.
  • I think I have the best hand OTF for sure.
  • When villain just flats my raise OTF, I am thinking he does have a hand with one heart, possibly a gutter or SD too. Perhaps K-J, A-K, A-J, PPs.
This spot was pretty tough for me TBH. I don't like 3-betting A-Q OOP either. I did think about it at the time, but I just chose not to. I didn't want to play a big pot OOP. A-Q is really not one of my favorites.

Anyways, I would like some input on how to proceed OTT, and any other input about my line/play is welcome.

And if I decide to bet on the turn, how much? Do I call if villain ships when I bet?

Thanks in advance CCers.

k So my couple thoughts are: Preflop i'm 3betting here vs another 100bb stack pretty much always. On the flop, if you felt he's full of shit, why raise? Why not let him barrel the turn? I don't know if it's 100% good here but I don't mind check/calling 2 streets here with no hearts peeling on the turn. Chances are we don't have to worry about river so much because he's not tripling this board without a flush, or a set at worst. 3betting pre makes hands like this so much easier to play

These are good points man.

Honestly, in zone, I don't have much time to think (15 seconds).

I raised the flop just thinking he is not folding anyways, so I could get more money in the pot.

However, C/C all streets unless a heart peels is a great option that I didn't consider.

Thanks for the input man.

In Zone, im especially 3betting. We can 3bet a ton wider in Zone to be honest.

He could be potting here with a lot more than just 1 heart hands imo including quite a few that beat you. Also what happened to your rational for not 3betting pre (that you don't want to play a big pot hand with AQ) on the flop? HATE raising the flop bet.

This is a good point also. Lol.

My response is this. I hit TP. I didn't feel too bad post flop then. Flawed, but it is my thinking.

As others have said, 3betting pre is probably good.

I don't know if I like the flop raise. I guess this is somewhat similar to the hand I posted recently where I had some trouble with my raise. What worse hands do you expect to call? And what better hands do you expect to fold?

Draws and 1-heart hands I expect to call. Basically a ton of hands that have equity against me (that I am ahead of OTF anyways). I am basically flipping on the flop vs. the range I had villain on. Pretty thin spot for value, but I guess I was hoping my hand would hold up.

Also, I will post the results after a while, but they don't really matter anyways.

It was just a tough spot, and I wanted some input.

Thanks for the thoughts as always, Sandbag.

But which one-heart hands can he be holding that he'd bet so heavily on the flop and then call a check-raise? I jotted down a range quickly, and I came up with this:

AhAs/AhAc/KhKs/KhKc/KhKd/KhJx(4)/KhQs/KhQc

You're an underdog to all of those hands except KhQx, and even then it's just about a coin flip. Even Jh10x is 50/50.

Also AhJx, AhKx, so thats 8 more combos. Still not a fan of raising though.

My range is more like many PP's with hearts, A-K, A-Q, A-10, A-J, straight draws, BS with nothing no equity, basically any A or K hand with a heart, even Qx with a heart, Jx with a heart, tons of hands.

People don't pot flops with huge hands usually, they want action. I thought he probably had some sort of draw, but he wanted me to just fold so he could take it down.

Yeah I guess I pretty much agree with this in hindsight.

I did think perhaps I had some FE in case villain was FOS.

Even against those hands, AdQd is a coin flip at best...

You also can't rule out sets, which he'd be willing to flat with in hopes of filling up. A large of his range has a ton of equity against your hand.

But if villain is FOS with no heart draw or anything, why do we want to fold him out is the key question? We don't want to utilize strong FE vs hands we crush I would think.

Well yeah I guess. But if he folds, I win.

I know it doesn't matter. However.....

Villain had:
A♠J♥
I bet full pot on turn, and he shipped. I called. My hand held up. Very lucky I suppose, he had a ton of equity.

I feel sometimes gut-instincts can be accurate. But considering what you all had to say, probably not the best play in the world by me.

tbh I don't mind flatting pre, strengthens up our flatting range a bunch, but as a default I'm more inclined to 3bet. on the flop his range contains virtually no pure air balls, its looks something like 22h+ TT, 77 89, 89h, AJh AhJ KhJ KJh Q10 710 QJh QKh Qxh QQ+. don't get why everyone hates the flop raise so much, its never a flopped flush, and flush draws far outweigh 2p+sets+overpairs and we don't expect him to pot/fold a draw.

Also If he does have air, he is going to make us make bad folds on so many run outs so there is actually value in folding out his bluffs. I probably raise bigger tbh. turn is super gross but we should have 3 new outs the times he got there, i prob just ship the turn and expect hearts and combos to still call.

This is really good Duggs. I like the thought process.

It was a pretty gross spot indeed OTT.

Thanks for the input man, I appreciate it.

Duggs this is Bovada Zone which is anon fast fold. No reason to ever strengthen our flatting range. 3bet relentlessly!
