I've been playing mostly speed poker lately. Think it's called Zoom or Rush on other sites. I normally play FR but they only have 6-max. Also I'm playing at the lowest stakes they have although I was originally playing 2NL. HEM2 isn't working for me as it lags 2 tables behind so is totally useless. Therefore I'm playing without stats which is also interesting.

Did I play this hand correctly? I only called his raise as I'm not too confident about QJo so just like to see the flop. Should I 3-bet here? And then I re-raised his raise on the flop as it was only 1/2 pot so didn't seem to me as if he was sure of his hand. Should I have raised bigger? And are the odds correct for me to call his shove?

Thanks all.

Fold it pre

Thanks acky. So are you saying it's too weak a hand to play even in 6-max? I'd hesitate to play it FR but thought I should be playing a wider range of hands at 6-max - especially in LP. Should I still be playing premium hands only?

It's QJo vs. an UTG raiser. Not only is he UTG, he's shortstacked. Fold pre, not close. Flat the flop, raising is horrendous.

Oh - okay. I think I understand now. I've obviously got it all completely wrong. I was thinking that I had the advantage as I was IP but wasn't paying attention to his actions. Also didn't even consider his short stack - thinking it would make him less of a threat as he couldn't threaten my stack. Thanks for putting me straight. I appreciate it. I have a lot to learn!

raising the flop is terrible because he has no worse J's in his range, well maybe JT but he isn't gonna auto stack this on the flop unless hes dumb and even still you lose more because he has AJ,KJ and sets and overpairs too. Even if he was full stacked this would be a fold because UTG ranges are still strong FR or 6max, way to strong to be calling with QJo anyways, i'd sooner 3bet it than call, but unless you have a good reason to 3bet it, ditch it. same with hands like KJo, AJo for the most part too.

Thanks. I did think about this and thought that if I raised I would be able to tell whether he had a better J or overpair or if instead he had a smaller pocket pair by his reaction. I think I'm c-betting too much and raising too much to get information. I'm using it as a way to get a read but it's obviously a huge leak and too costly. Thanks again.
