$5 NL HE 6-max: Overvalue 2pair vs fish?? No2

Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 86/43/2

Again, stats only over 7 hands.

poker stars, $0.02/$0.05 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 5 Players
Hand History Converter by Stoxpoker

SB: $14.63 (292.6 bb)
Hero (BB): $5 (100 bb)
MP: $5.99 (119.8 bb)
CO: $6.60 (132 bb)
BTN: $10.85 (217 bb)

Pre-Flop: Hero is BB with 8:heart: 6:heart:
2 folds, BTN raises to $0.15, SB calls $0.13, Hero calls $0.10

Flop: ($0.45) 8:club: 5:diamond: 6:club: (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.35, BTN folds, SB raises to $1.15[/color

Can we shove over the top here? This could be a flush draw, straight draw, or tp 'protecting' against a flush or straight, all of which would call a shove i think, specially with his stack, or on the other hand it could be a made straight or a set which kills us, we can't flat call b/c of all the cards that could come on the turn that kill the action for us, plus the high chance of being lead into anyways.

You have top 2 pair vs. a smack-tard. Ship it. If you turn the [5d] into a [7c] you could still prolly ship this profitably against this type of player.

have you considered the possibilities of trips? its a long shot but its possible. In this situation I would push it. If you lose to trips oh well it happens in poker. Top 2 pair is good enough against a board with an unlikely straight draw and a possible flush draw. If villian is on a draw then he is making a HUGE mistake by calling your all in.

vs this type of player, you'll be ahead most of the time. THEY really overvalue 1 pr hands, so shove and be happy

Just ship it in on the flop villain is a moron(sample is tiny but he comes of as moron from the start and is playing 5nl so until he proves other wise he is a moron)

Pre-flop i probably fold here, judging from your threads you seem to be playing SC to much or/and at the wrong time.
When u shuld be playing SC(or PPs ) imo:
Nit opening raiser.
Deepstacks.
IP preferable.
Multiway pot IP.
Folded to you in CO or BTN and you raise as a steal.

When you shouldnt play SC(or one gappers like this hand) imo:
OOP facing a steal(unless you 3bet obvs in witch case villain has to have a high fold to 3bet and high steal%).
OOP against absolutly horrible players that play way to many hands since you dont have implied odds cause there range is so weak.

Basicly against spazes like this KT,QJ,A9 type hands > SC and PPs since there range is so weak and there for dont have implied odds.
I rather play hands that make TP against these villains since im happy to stack with TP against them but im not happy to stack 66 on a 48J board or 67s on a 27T board witch are the hands you will usualy make in these spots.
And if u do flop a straight draw or something where still OOP and drawing OOP sucks....

Just my 2cents....

I think you hit the nail on the head there, awesome advice, the when's and when not's are really going to help me imo, this was just what i needed.

Glad to see the the majority said to ship it, i did, and he had a set :(

Every stack i lost last night was lost with sc's in awkward spots, i think the poker gods took pity and set out to drop a HUGE hint that i was playing them badly lol the advice in this hand and the other one (the guy also had a set there too) is going to go a long way, cheers guys, and sindri especially b/c that summary really was just what i needed.
