I can't tell what the blinds are but if it's more than .02/.04, I would have bet more pre AND post flop.

I am assuming you made a 3BB raise.

You are in early position. This means that if called you are out of position post flop. 5BB raise, not 3BB.

You have 2 callers, on the flop bet 3/4 pot - pot. The board is coordinated, you have an OP but as the hand is not HU you should charge people to draw.

Turn and river.

I think you have to do one of two things here.

Either give up to any bet

OR

Bet ous small as a blocking bet.

I think a half pot bet on the turn would either be called by a flush / straight draw but not reraised unless they have a really good one.. so if they reraise you fold.

The river is another straight card. I think a smallish bet on the river would only get raised by a decent flush. So it turns your hand into a bluff catcher rather than a value hand.

I just think the check call on the turn is very weak. A check raise is probably too expensive ... I think I would bet the turn for sure and then either bet small on the river or fold if I felt he probably had it.

hey thanks for the comments. i know 100% i played it wrong on the turn and in turn it put me in a tough situation on the river. the hand was shown from the villian and he showed 10cJh. i was a little shocked that i laided down the best hand but glad i got bluffed off my hand instead of calling and being wrong. i have been over this hand a few times and i believe my biggest mistake was played on the turn by just check/calling.

I would bet full pot on that flop 100% of the time.
There are two main reasons I would bet pot.

  • For value against a loose player (bigger bet more money)
  • When the board is very drawy (there's a 6h7h on here which means theres a ton of possible straight and flush draws, and when against loose opponents you will probably get any gutshot calling you which makes the likelihood of a draw and hence a call huge!

I'm rarely a fan of betting full pot. Not sure if there's discussion on this anywhere else? but i'd be keen to see peoples thoughts on bet sizing on drawy boards like this.

anyways.. in this case, against two opponents i'd definitely bet more on the flop. Somehwere around the 50c mark. Then depending on my thoughts on the opponent, I'd either be giving up when a straight or flush card came, or put out some sort of blocking bet on the turn and reassessing from there.

The plus side of betting full pot is you can often knock off draws, which is +EV since you don't give them the chance to hit.

The negative side of betting full pot is that you can set yourself up for trouble if called, as you may be beat and lost money betting too strong.
