Hero (CO): $14.73
BTN: $4.33
SB: $6.03
BB: $5.07

Pre Flop: ($0.07) Hero is CO with K :diamond: K
Hero raises to $0.12, BTN raises to $0.45, 2 folds, Hero raises to $1.75, BTN calls $1.30

Flop: ($3.57) 5 :spade: 2  2 :diamond: (2 players)
Hero bets $3.30, BTN calls $2.58 all in

Turn: ($8.73) 2 :spade: (2 players - 1 is all in)

River: ($8.73) A  (2 players - 1 is all in)

------

See the hand above. Because villain called my reraise preflop and because of the dry board, I decided to shove my KK. I never thought he would have AA. He was playing 35/19 (only 52 hands though) and I have seen him shoving lighter than that before.

Could I have prevented this? Is there any read which could lead me to think that he had Aces? How would you have played this?

Thx for your input.

I don't think you are looking to avoid getting it in here. If you are, it's super bad.
His 3bet/call preflop is super strong given that he committing a large portion of his stack so we can almost always put him on a strong pair, and AKs. On that dry of a flop, unless you had some sort of sick gut feeling that he has AA (even then), you are not looking to fold KK. This is just a cooler, I think you played it well. hard luck

At this stakes you do not want to avoid the All-in. There are a lot of requirements to certainly pinpoint that your equity with KK is beat by another players range. But at 5NL you are ahead a big portion of the time. At FR chances for this to happen 1 in 20 times when you are deal kings and for 6 max is 1 in 30 times I think. So not too much to worry for now. The problem will come at higher stakes and deepstack when this decision will be worth a lot of money and a good fold could increase you winrate a lot.
I would worry a lot more for now when I have kings and someone flats IP after my raise.

Nothing much you could have done, KK vs AA is a cooler here, you don't have enough of a sample size against your opponent to make a profitable fold.

Definately get it in on the flop, you have 95% the best hand here, and you'll get called by much worse

How does stakes affect this? KK in a 4-bet pot on a 5-high flop with an SPR of 1 is going to be a stackoff vs. virtually anyone.

I was not clear enough to say that i was talking about the preflop play. If you get to the flop the decision is already made if there is no A on the board.
