Things were going a little rough for me during my session (made one big mistake where I should have folded, and ran into some two pair hands by the river that I would normally have won if I barreled and they didn't river that 2nd pair, but that's okay, it happens), then things started to turn around. A few hands before this one, turned a flush and got a full double-up on somebody who check-called the turn and river with just top pair (Gotta love that).

That's the backdrop for this upcoming hand. I get Kings in middle position. UTG min-raised, I decide to 3-bet 3.2x because I want to apply pressure and build a pot. The Small Blind calls, and the original raiser calls.

Here's the thing where I run into a bit of an issue because this has happened where I have, on board textures like this, run into sets (I discount T8 here because I don't think T8 calls enough of the time to really be worried about that hand) because SB just called pre. They could very easily be going with hands like TT, JJ, QQ as well, thinking I was 3-betting pre with AK, which I will also do. The original raiser folded, so I decide to raise here, with the intention of getting my stack in. The only hands I am in trouble against are Aces and sets.

Here's the thing (I will post the result of the hand another time), should I be trying to find a fold here? Or am I playing this fine? I wonder if this is a leak of mine where I will sometimes overplay overpairs on boards like this, or is it perfectly fine to do this because in the long run, I should be coming out ahead. Villain is definitely playing his hand VERY fast.

I'm just curious as to your feedback on this. Maybe I'm not thinking this through right, or my logic is faulty.

Maybe I'm just a stupid fish. :D:D:D:p

So SB cold calls your 3-bet with the initial raiser still to act and then on the flop he leads into both of you??? Unless I have him marked as a total drooler I'm never going to try an out-aggro this kind of play. His story is all about flopping a set or slow-played AA. Just sigh-fold and move on.

Easy ship. TT-QQ more likely than AA & sets.

When you go all in on every flop with your overpair then it's very exploitable game. This flop hit right on SB range and we have position. I'm calling flop and re-valuating on turn.

Villain had KQ of diamonds and, as Jillychemung aptly said, that person happened to be a "drooler" and was drawing pretty slim (backdoor straight draw and that's it). I ended up winning the pot.

Good thoughts here though, from sigh folding to happily shipping.

I wonder if my 3-bet sizing was fine though, only 3.2x. In retrospect, I maybe could have gone up to 4x, though that may not have altered the outcome anyway.

The reason I discount T8 here is that's SO narrow a range to go on, it may as well be the "monsters under the bed syndrome" here. Sometimes you just have to go with your read, and this time, it happened to work.

Thanks for the input folks.

Well seen the result now but if he was in any way competent I'd put him on 88-AA PLUS AK and AQs. So there should be the odd set of 99 but not much AA some weaker players might flat aces. Against that range and with so much of our stack invested I'd call it off. He shouldn't really be leading out here with a strong hand
If he was this much of a drooler through it shouldn't take you too many hands to spot him. Stats for him would make the decision easier here.

+1

we have no idea if he's the tightest nit in the world , or the biggest whale or somewhere in between.to get the best advice you should give as much information about the situation/player as possible.
