$5 NL HE 6-max: JJ on a rag board.

Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 67/11/2

Did I do the correct move here? I was thinking that he may have straight or two pairs.

Try this for hand converting -http://www.stoxpoker.com/hand_history_converter/

Try to buy in full and auto-top off your stack - you want to be able to get full value for your monsters. Also, your pf open is a little small I think, especially for utg/oop - try 4x BB rather than 3x.

Any reads on Villain? For a fish, this could also be 9x or TT. Folding isn't a huge mistake imo, esp. oop, but I will frequently call in position to see what Villain will do on the turn if I think he's fishy/bluffy/high AF.

Sir, Im about to ask this also. What is the standard size for betting? 3bb or 4bb? I used to bet 3bb but I dont know if 4bb is much effective. Any advice?

Try using 4x BB when you're opening - if someone limps in front of you, add 1 BB for every limper. So, if you're utg it would always be 4x. Let's say you're BTN, utg and CO both limp in front of you, you would make it 6x.

I find that 3x tends to have more multi-way pots - for 6max, I want to be HU, especially if I'm likely to be OOP (esp. utg, MP, and the blinds).

Table conditions may cause you to vary this, but this is a good general guideline.

I use this except I open 3x from BTN and SB (stealing positions).

Thank you for your advice sly. I would try it later. I'll post the result if it's effective. Actually I agree about having multiway pot. Is this also applicable to tournament or in cash games only? because I also open 3bb on tournament I dont know if im doing it right. TIA

I don't use this when I play tourneys, the escalating blind structure makes the pots too big relative to stacks. For the first two levels, I usually use 4x, but I start using 3x at level 3 usually and then use 2.5x in late levels, depending on table conditions (i.e., if it looks like I can steal or get HU with less, I'll use less - I generally try to use the lowest amount that will get me to HU).

There are alot of better tourney players on this site, I focus on cash games, others may have better advice.
