$5 NL HE 6-max: How do you judge this?

Hi guys, your thoughts on these hands?

Hand # 1

I'm in the Cut Off with 3.31$
UTG Folds, MP folds
I raise with A8o to 15 cents
Everyone folds except BB who calls.

Pot: 32 cents
Flop: 2d 8s 9h
BB Checks
I make a c-bet of 20 cents
BB calls

Turn: 2s

I check
BB Checks

River: Qd

BB bets out for 1$

I'm looking at 3rd pair against a potential queen high straight so I fold

With my flop bet he didnt have the pot odds to draw to his 5:1 open ended straight...but i just felt my third pair wasnt good.

What do you guys think?

Hand # 2

I'm in middle position with KJo

UTG folds
I raise to 15 cents
Cutoff calls
So do SB and BB Both blinds were very very loose

Pot: 60 cents
Flop: 6h As 8s

SB and BB Check
I make a c-bet of 25 cents (weak bet I know) pot: 85 cents
Cutoff raises to 75 cents and I fold and so do the blinds.

He later told me he was on a draw. He didnt have the pot odds to chase on the flop but who knows with these guys.

Do you automatically fear that ace on the flop? I mean I did my job with the flop bet i believe by pricing him out of his draw.... but that ace scared me.

What do you do in a situation like this?

Thanks

edit: writing these hands down I realise I am not always thinking about my outs and odds during hands..it helps to put down hands and actively analyse them.

Hand 1.

The trouble with a cbet on the flop is that unless an A or 8 comes you have trouble call a river lead in a pot control line and betting turn makes your hand a bluff when there is no need.

Since you have showdown value , I prefer checking back this flop and calling a turn bet or betting if checked to. You can still get 2 streets of value if you desire and it lets you get to showdown easier.

Hand 2:

Why would you be scared of the Ace. It is not like you have anything atm. If anything you should be glad there is an ace to fire at.

Betting small is called an inducer bet. This is because it looks weak and gets people to raise you lighter. It wouldn't surprise me if this guy did have a draw.

Weak bets are the thing I like most about poker. Many people bet weak their nothing and their medium strength hands. It's very easy to bluff people out after such small bets.

If you are going to bet - please bet at least 2/3 of the pot or simply check and give up the pot... Bets less than 1/2 pot on the flop never receive any respect.

I guess you wanted them to fold ,right ? Why bet small ?

Hand 1:
I think you played fine. If I have to be really picky I personally would fold A8o preflop.

Hand 2:
I don't c-bet here. The more people there are in the pot the less inclined we should be to c-bet.
If we were just against the CO I'd fire this c-bet all day long.

Instead we are against 3 players, two of which are very loose, one has position on us. The chances of them all missing the flop is too unlikely to c-bet here. Especially when the stations in the blinds will be playing all aces all suited cards and will likely call us down with 6s, 8s and gutshots.

So ye don't c-bet here.
