$5 NLHE 6-max: Do we bluff catch OTR 160bb deep with over pair vs agressive player?

Villain seems very aggressive : Won when saw the flop 67%, CB 100%, TCB 100%, AFq flop 71, AFq turn&river 100%, Open BU 4/6, F3bet 3/4

QA: Why did you bet so small OTF: To get him go crazy

OTR he should have value hands JJ, 99, TT, QTs total combos 16 that is quite low number given how aggressive he is. Oh and he is from russia, not that it matters.

Those stats don't really matter much, and it does matter where he's from. I assume you were joking.

The hand got kooky because you underbet the flop. It looks weak from an aggressive players perspective so you're going to be getting raised w/ a really wide range. If that was your intention, great... but usually with just a single pair this deep, it's not the best strategy, especially OOP against an aggressive opponent.

So as played you're just in check/guess mode at this point. I'd consider just leading the turn again so you can actually try and take some control of the hand, and usually even aggressive players will take a step back in a 3-bet pot once a raise had been called post flop.

But as played, folding the river is pretty standard this deep w/ o better info and a better hand.

Thx! Ok, I take deep, OOP and aggressive opponent in to the equation next time. Keep it simple eh?

Leading the turn again is interesting concept. That means also I should bet/fold the river too it seems. But in the hindsight that would have costed me much less, because folding vs his continuous aggression would have been simple task.

Folding river was standard, I totally agree, but as I sighted and was pushing the finger down over the fold, I runned the clock down (35 sec) and just couldn’t find enough good hands he could had combined the fact that this is what I wanted to him to do. Obviously my range analysis was way off because at the time I was only thinking sets and quads and bluffs. He showed TJo.

Personally, understanding this player is very aggressive and will take unconventional lines like on the flop with his range, you can take multiple lines with AA.

I don't mind the raise pre (as their is merit to raising 4.5-5x here), but it gets funky on the flop. You bet under half pot, which is a more value bet-ish or a pot steal-ish, and he min raises to 20 BB. To me, when you bet cheap to make it look weak, like John had said (not sure if that was the intention), im also raising a bunch of my range. Obviously 99, 33, and JJ and J9, but even AJ, KJ, QJ JT, which there is a ton of combos too. Even if you are trapping me, that doesn't look like a J, as most of your range should check the flop to the BTN's range, which it hits way more often then yours raising from the BB. I know my secondary card, or my backdoors, are good a lot of the time, and I like to apply pressure here to QQ, KK, AA and even if you went crazy with 108s or Q10s in the BB. KQ would continue of the time here too, so its a good spot to apply pressure. Now you just call the flop, which does make me ask you, "What are you calling for?" Do you hope an A runs off and you have the best hand? If a 2 or 5 run off, do you still have the best hand if you check call the turn? You now always have to check the turn and see what happens unless its an A, because of the turn cards (K,Q,10 another 9, 8, 7, another J, even another 3 if he improves to quads) none of these improve you in this exact spot. I think OOP its too ambitious to just play a guessing game and call, go ahead and let her rip. You will find out if they have a set and a weak jack is never risking stack against a huge 3-bet unless he is a complete and utter donk. But lets move on.

On the turn comes a T, of the worst cards for us. Now because so much of his range improves or gathers more outs with a T, and we have no idea what to do facing a bet and then another bet on the river.

River comes another T and he jams and you fold, which is standard. But just take the money while you can pre flop or on the flop, and if you know that most of the time its check/call turn and check/fold river, just fold the turn. Almost all of his range is going to triple barrel all three streets, so you need to get your money in prior to those streets peeling.

Good luck!
