CO mucked and won $6.86 ($3.61 net)

Looking back, I should have probably folded preflop to this big re-raise.

Thanks

Do you know anything about him? Calling 3bets with AJ/AQ is generally not a good idea even in position. You're just going to get owned so often even when you hit. As played I actually check back the flop here. SPR is small because of the large preflop pot so you're not going to have problems getting stacks in later if you want to.

After you bet the flop, folding TPTK to the reraise is really bad. Routinely bloating pots and then folding will cost you lots of $$. Anytime you've put 33% of the smaller stack in you need a damn good reason to fold. Here you've put in more than 1/2. He would need to turn over AA and show them to me before I would fold to the raise postflop.

So to sum up:
Fold to 3bet pre, failing that
Check back flop, failing that
Never fold.

Hey W,

Hope you had a good holiday season

Yeah il pretty much always fold AJ, KQ etc to a preflop re-raise... no particular read on this guy....in this case I just attribute it to a stupid brain cramp. I dont break this rule of mine ever except in this case...

At least thanks for your post flop opinion

I think I may have mentioned it to you in another thread but I really think you'd benefit from reading Professional No-Limit: Vol 1. Lots of the issues you're having are addresses in it. SPR and Pot Commitment chief among them.

That hand is total spew, but you seem to know it. WV said it already. If you like to read books check out Professional No limit Holdem (PNL). It will be very eye opening to you in the commitment threshold and Stack to Pot (SPR) sections. If not google search them out...

WV Beat me too it again :)

+1 on the Folding preflop

+1 on Ed Millers book.

Its different material from every other book I've read and really helps you move from the basics to more advanced concept.
(Do take some of the example hands that involve limp raising KK with a grain of salt though). Other than the one or two weird examples its a great book.

That and Ed Millers "Poker Made Simple" series on stox are the only non-forum related learning sources I've ever found useful.
