Not picking on you 5TR8 FLUSH, but this is why results shouldn't be posted in HA - if we don't know exactly what his holding is, we have to think about a range of hands to put Villain on. If we know what his holding is, the play looks correct - but I really think it's really really really not correct to check this flop unless we're confident Villain will bet behind, and we have no reason to think he will given the info provided.
So, what's he got? He open raised 3xbb pf and called a 3bet in position. I think Sindri's pretty much spot on in regard to what hands do this pf, and at this limit I'd add the possibility of a lot more suited broadway hands (KQ, KJ, QJ, QT, KT).
This flop smacks his range pretty hard. We've got big opportunities against TP, two pair, worse sets, flush draws, and straight draws - maybe even pp's TT+, but granted, that's much less likely.
Allowing the draws a free card here is criminal imo - not from a "protect my hand" standpoint, but because all of these hands will pay money to see a turn card
. I think we generally underestimate the importance of this idea, that people will pay money in order to see if their hand that's currently behind will improve
. When it doesn't improve, which is most of the time
, that's money in Hero's pocket.
When we're ahead, we want to allow people to pay to see the turn, esp oop.
