Why are we raising/calling preflop?

Flop is whatever.

The call preflop is pretty terrible, I'm fine with stacking off with this if for some reason we call, but flipping is best we can hope for.

I'm not sure why I raised preflop and called the 3bet... I guess I just automatically play like this when I'm tired, multi-tabling and not concentrating properly.

Do you know anything about CO? Is he solid, is he loose, is he nitty, is he passive, is he aggro?

Preflop is either a fold or a 4-bet bluff. If he's solid, then he already raised an UTG open, so I'd be inclined to fold. Less so if he's aggro.

Edit: actually, I'd say it's an outright fold. A8s is pretty loose UTG, if you ask me. It's not in my range here with ATs being the lowest I play. I'd have to have been extremely card dead and on a tight table to play this.

I make the same mistake all the time, for the same reasons.

Fold pre, fold pre again to the 3-bet. Check-call flop and check-fold the turn. He's almost never bluffing with that sizing on this board, and raising the flop is suicidal.
