UTG calls $0.05, 1 fold, CO raises to $0.20,

Ok this guy is open-raising somewhat loser than the average and seeing as we have the button and a Cbet is likely, I am happy to play a little poker post-flop

Hero calls $0.20, 3 folds

Flop: ($0.52) Q

CO checks,

Ok there are probably a fair few Qs and Js in his range but he hasn't Cbet. Perhaps he is trapping. I guess if I bet here I am probably only pushing out the hands that I beat plus I fear a C/R. I decide to take the free card.

Hero checks

Turn: ($0.52) 2

CO bets $0.40,

I did consider a raise here for value and to prtect my 99 which could well be the best hand. Flush draw out there. I guess a raise would also discourage villain to bet the river, allowing me to check behind for a cheaper showdown.

I decided to call however for pot control

Hero calls $0.40

River: ($1.32) 7

CO bets $1,

Hero to act...

I am getting 2.3:1. Many people think my 99 is good here 40% of the time?

Looks good to me. Call river. Make a note. He'll show up with Ax, busted backdoor hearts, and "I have to bet because I have no showdown value" suited connectors quite a bit here.

IMO villain is never betting river without a Q, J or TT. The only thing I see that we beat is maybe 88 or <66(these probably don't bet river). He could be doing this with busted FDs but i dont know if it's often enough to be profitable for us to call. I'd fold river

...I timed for 15 seconds and then made the call. Villian flipped AKo.

In hindsight I would perhaps min-raise the turn for value to protect my hand and discourage his river lead. I still believe the river call was profitable over the long term however :)
