$5 NL HE 6-max: Bluff line check

Guess it's not really a bluff because i did have something but yeah. Villain is a 22/20 out of 54 hands. Has stolen 4/9 times on the button but basically no reads. I felt that none of these low cards hit him except possibly the 9 and throughout the hand i put him on some kind of pocket pair. Normally i would've c/r turn but i felt that was too predictable and decided to c/r river to represent a slow played flush

C/R flop then shutdown if he calls - you've not got enough fold equity on the river IMO

well if you have something in a 6 player SNG.. it's safe to semi bluff.. stealing the blinds is the key to success..your opponents are not likely to hit the board all the time.. so its safe lol.. hope this helps

3-bet or fold preflop. You *really* don't have implied odds here.

Other than that, hand seems spewy to me.

Meht, you seem like a competent individual, so I don't have to resort to name calling to get your attention. :)

But seriously, I think I only like the flop, and even that isn't a slam dunk or anything. I could've slammed the other decisions in the hand, but the real key here is your preflop decision.

Deuces are incredibly hard to play out of position (seeing showdowns with 5th pair isn't real profitable), its hard to extract value OOP when you hit a set, and when a guy raises on the button he's not giving off implied odds because he's got a lot of trash in his range. So I think I like fold > 3-bet >>>>>>> call. Switch 3-bet & fold if his fold to 3-bet is above 60%.

So by calling preflop, you set yourself up to have to attempt some crazy ass bluff like this. You can't really play fit or fold, so you either have to catch bluffs OOP or bluff a lot OOP yourself. If your preflop strategy were better, you wouldn't have put yourself in this spot. Which is why I really hate when people dismiss preflop strategy as "oh its only 3% of your stack, you can play loose in a cash game." Your preflop strategy sets up how you're going to end up playing the hand, and if you screw up preflop it will set you up to spewy off a ton later.

i think im still iffy on 3betting small pairs from the blinds because i know sometimes itll resort to me cbetting the flop and having to shut down only to check/fold and waste all that money. In the end i guess it doesnt really matter when I end up getting it all in like i did here though.

So whats kind of a rule of thumb with like small to mid pairs in the blinds then? I mean if someone from MP raises do i 3bet or would it be better to 3bet or fold?

Its not your position that's super important, its the guy who did the original raise. You need to choose preflop whether you can call for implied odds, 3-bet for fold equity, or just fold because you don't really have either of them.
