$5 NL HE 6-max: Is this a bad river call or was he just chasing?

Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 24/17/5.5

I am playing a little bit tilty right now, result is that I dont fully think hands through, allthough I finished the session with a small profit..

Hero (MP): $8.54 (170.8 bb)
CO: $4.80 (96 bb)
BTN: $0.86 (17.2 bb)
SB: $5.70 (114 bb)
BB: $4.18 (83.6 bb)
UTG: $4.86 (97.2 bb)

Pre-Flop: Hero is MP with T

UTG folds, Hero raises to $0.17, 3 folds, BB calls $0.12

Flop: ($0.36) J

T

3

(2 players)
BB bets $0.20, Hero calls $0.20

Looking back now, perhaps I should have re-raised this flop. There are a ton of typical draws here and during the action, I didnt recognize this flop as coordinated, as likely opening a lot of draws.....not sure why..wishful thinking

Turn: ($0.76) 8

(2 players)
BB bets $0.60, Hero raises to $1.20, BB calls $0.60

This card, looking back now, completes some straight draws.

River: ($3.16) K

(2 players)
BB bets $2.61 and is all-in, Hero calls $2.61

I should have folded here I guess, but a set of tens is hard to put down, even though this K completes sooo many draws..

Results: $8.38 pot ($0.55 rake)
Final Board: J

I don't really like your line at all. First as you mentioned you definitely should have raised the flop. Also why are you minraising the turn? It should be at least 3x his bet in order to not give him odds to Chase.

Gotta raise that drawy flop. With second set, I'm fistpumping to get it all in on the flop, very happy to get it in on the turn, but not very happy to put in 50bb's on that river. Problem solved if we raise flop and continue aggression on the turn, if there's anything left behind on the river we're happy to get it in.

Don't fold sets at the micros unless you have a VERY good reason to and then you better double and triple think before you do it. 99.9999% of the time just put it all in the middle, the faster the better.

Raise more everywhere. You passive fish are insane for slow playing a set on a board like this.

Yep, this. And the only worse card in the deck for your hand than the Kc is the Kd.

As played, it's still difficult for me to find a fold on the river because this is two pair so damn often. The important thing is to emphasize as Sly did how *not* to get yourself in such a position at all.

Would appreciate the term newbie rather than fish please? We all made these mistakes growing up....

Its rather eye opening when I call you a fish isn't it? If I called you a newbie, I doubt it'd have the same effect.

But if I see you slow play a set on a board like this, its an obviously leak that I'd be looking to exploit. I'd be sitting on your left as much as possible, playing many tables with you, and generally I'd consider you a fish.

For futur reference, im not a fan of the tough love approach. Im fully aware im making fishy plays, its why im in the micro stakes and asking for feedback. Il give you credit for having done this for instructional eye-opening value, but im learning just as much through positive constructive feedback from the members here.

Thanks for your comments

Aw come on RAFC24, he's just a guy on the internet.

As you know you let too many hands draw to you.

Bet more on the flop, shove on the turn. Min raising with set on drawy board = bad idea always. And while I don't know what he had, it was either a blocking bet or he was betting his improved draw. Gotta pull the trigger eventually.
