Bovada "Zone" poker 6-max.

I open with A-9s, all folds to SB, who calls.

I hit TP, bet for value entire way, and villain donks into me on a nasty river.

At the time, I really had to think about it. No reads in zone.

It seemed to me villain was trying to make me fold.... He check calls 2-streets, then pots the river? It just didn't make sense to me.

These spots have been coming up somewhat frequently. Does anyone have any advice for these types of spots?

P.S. People play super duper fishy on zone. Especially villains who don't have full stacks (IMO).

Fold. There weren't any real draws besides a gut shot that villain could have missed and turned into a bluff. I just don't see what villain could have here that you have beat.

probably fold, but i don't think calling is the worst, I don't play in that player pool so I'm struggling to make any assumptions that stick

Possibly close. This line is so retarded I think it falls under the category of "reps nothing, so must be the nuts" because players this retarded probably aren't capable of bluffing in this fashion.

I might call AJ-AK so we can at least beat his weirdly played A2-A9 hands.

Yeah I just really thought he had some tiny ace or second pair or missed gutter or something.

His bet didn't seem like he wanted a call, it seemed like he wanted me to fold...

Well thread is dead pretty much. I was waiting to see a few more replies. I guess these spots don't interest that many folks.

Here.

Villain had Q-Jo and missed his gutter ball. He was just desperately trying to win with nothing. I picked up on it.

In future you could consider a bit of pot control shortening the hand by checking the turn. You do only have a 1 pair hand at that point with a mid kicker. Reducing the size of the pot with these sort of medium strength holdings means the betting on the river is smaller and its easier to call when you have suspicions

He can slow playing his trips, he can be a donk but he could have a tell on you about the value of your hand, so don't underestimate your opponents never, and as Figaroo2 said the next time you can reduce the size of the pot and see what is the value of your foe hand! :) GL next time.
