No-Limit Hold'em, $0.05 BB (6 handed) - Hold'em Manager Hand Converter from HandHistoryConverter.com

UTG ($5.66)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 8

UTG calls $0.05, MP calls $0.05, 2 folds, Hero bets $0.13, BB calls $0.10, 1 fold, MP calls $0.10

Flop: ($0.50) 7

, 6

(3 players)
Hero bets $0.35, BB calls $0.35, MP raises $0.70, Hero calls $0.35, BB calls $0.35

Turn: ($2.60) 8
heart.gif
(3 players)
Hero checks, BB bets $0.86, MP raises $0.87 (All-In), Hero ???

OK, so MP I only have a few hands on but he's all over the place LAG style. BB is tight passive.

I've found myself in several of these kind of situations and I don't feel as though I've ever done the right thing.

On reflection I'm thinking that I should have considered folding after the flop re-raise, and if BB had done it I would have! However, we get to the turn and I hit my set but now I really should be folding right?

Never fold flop. You're getting like 3.5:1 and may even have the best hand.

You have at worst like 9 outs on the turn, that's %24 equity, or like a 3.2:1 dog. You're getting 4.33:.87 = 5:1. Never fold.

OK, thank you very much for your input. So, I did call, and then the river came and now I found myself in a very interesting situation.

River: ($5.21) 5

(3 players, 1 all-in)
Hero checks, BB bets $1.24, Hero ???

What does BB (tight passive) get to here and then bet out with? It looks like a vbet plain and simple to me, because he's thinking I'm going to think "I'm obviously calling because we're just going to share the pot right?" ;)

Nevertheless, I'm guessing with those pot odds I have to call?

River doesn't change much except you have a straight. Just call and hope for a split

OK, so basically I was never getting away from this:-

No-Limit Hold'em, $0.05 BB (6 handed) - Hold'em Manager Hand Converter from HandHistoryConverter.com

River: ($5.21) 5

(3 players, 1 all-in)
Hero checks, BB bets $1.24, Hero calls $1.24

Total pot: $7.69

Results:
Hero had 8
spade.gif
, 8
diamond.gif
(straight, nine high).
BB had 10
spade.gif
, 10
heart.gif
(straight, ten high).
MP didn't show (that's as may be but he had 79s)
Outcome: BB won $7.20

AFTER seeing the results, the only hand I can see our tight passive villain taking that line with is TT. Bugger.

9Ts, TJs, and last but not least, made hands turned chop-bluffs. Don't be results-oriented.

If villain had bet more would a call still be good? More pot if he was deeper?
I get stuck whether it's results orientated or it was a donkey call on my part knowing it could be a split but probably not on a 5 card straight board.

Is it just a cooler?

I'm not sure about 9Ts and TJs because as I said, he's a tight passive. I suppose I should have emphasised that by saying that over 53 hands he was running 11/2.

I'm guessing you mean hands like QQ and JJ when you say made hands turned chop-bluffs (cos even he would have re-raised KK+)?

53 hands doesn't really mean anything to me. He could be a solid winning reg or a lagfish that's been temporarily distracted.

What means more to me is the fact that he was facing a 3x raise pf with 2 limpers behind. Nobody ever folds suited connectors then. This is all however a point FOR JTs/9Ts to be in his range which is bad for us considering a river call.

But yes, I implied that he was turning a made hand into a bluff to fold out a chop; JJ+ usually 3bets, but something like 5x or 9x or 8x or whatever could be potentially bluffing. That and backdoor hearts are a big enough part of his range to make calling for that price pretty clear.

Thanks again for helping me to understand that hand, I appreciate your input - not least because when I started playing, your 10k post printout was never far away!
