$5 NLHE 6-max: 5NL Zone facing river donkbet on a two-way straight and 3 card flush board.

Okay, so I'm far from a cash game player, I probably played around 1,000 cash game hands in 2014, for the most part, my volume is 95% MTTs. Was playing 5NL Zone on Bovada today and had a decision on the river to make, the line made no sense whatsoever, is this a spew if we call the river here?

No reads because Bovada is anonymous.

Hero is sitting on a 280bb stack
Villain has roughly 80bb.

Hero is dealt 98o in the BB
Folds to the SB who limps in.
Hero checks.

Flop > Ts Js Qc

Villain bets 0.05 into a 0.10 pot
Hero calls

Turn 3c

Villain bets 0.05 into a 0.20 pot
Hero re-raises to 0.35
Villain calls

river 9s

Board is > Ts Js Qc 3c 9s

Villain leads out for 0.70 into an 0.80 pot
Hero ???

Cheers,
Trent

Definitely raise the flop. in general, when some draws complete on the river and your opponent bets big or raises, FOLD. in this case all the draws got there and your opponent bets big. easy fold

I think we need to be raising pre flop. In SB vs BB spots when the SB limps I'm raising almost 50% of hands, it's a cheaper iso raise when in position with nobody to act behind you. Villains limp fold way too often in the SB.

We need to raise villains min-bet on the flop, the board is ridiculously wet and we have the second nuts at the moment, and the nuts shouldn't be in villains range, raise it up.

The raise on the turn is good.

The river is one of the worst cards in the deck for us. We are definitely folding to villains big bet. .

Raising the flop for value would have been a better idea so that we make villain pay to chase his draw if he has one.

Had you raised the flop you could have bet a bigger amount on the turn or even raise the villain had he decided donk lead for a second time after getting raised.

As played - fold the river.:p

What a crappy river card for you!

I'm folding the river because every draw got there, you can't expect to be good ever IMO.
