Thought in the hand:
After 4bet, I put it in AQs + / AA-KK-QQ. Folding AK against stranger seemed to me very exploitable so i pay, if i did not tie on the flop simply fold.
I decide to go for a check-call line on the flop with hearts backdoor.
Having an A on the flop and having another one it was difficult to put in AA. It also blocked KK, and QQ was blocked too. AQ practically discarded. I mean, all the hands I put it in were blocked
So basically I did not know where to put it, I bet half a boat and he pay. I really had no idea where I was when he call. My question is if I should have taken value from the river or the check-call line was fine. There is also the possibility that he is slowplay with a full. After seeing the river: I had nothing or was ruined. So trying to avoid the check-raise, I checked.
Checking was too cautious?

1) Don't show the results.
2) Don't call 4-bets with AKo. When you're ahead, you win small pots (like this one). It's known as a reverse implied odds hand. This is a shove or fold depending on stats (likely a fold for this guy, but that might be results oriented. See #1).
3) Yes, value bet that river!

At these stakes i don't mind folding AK vs a cold 4bet as villains rarely seem to cold 4bet bluff at 5nl.Also the tendencies are to over call the 3bet with hands like TT-QQ and only cold 4bet KK+.Villain stats are also shaping up more on the tight passive side as'well although it's a small sample.

I do prefer a 5bet shove over flatting the 4bet though 100bb deep. The problem with flatting AK is you rarely get to realize the hands full equity as you don't often get to see turns and rivers. You allow villain to get away from hands like JJ QQ on Axx Kxx boards. And you also miss out on any preflop fold equity while allowing villain to outdraw you with bluffs. So there is know great advantage to flatting AK.

If you bet the river what hands would call that are worse than you have? I would say you are more likely to end up facing a check raise than a call. May as well check it down.
