Total unknown here at a Zoom game. I usually don't 4-bet bluff without stats backing up my decision but I was very tired of getting 3-bet during this session and I guess it's tilt at work.

Anyway, if we were 100bb deep I would except him to ship AK and I can only see AQ in his calling range that has an ace (or trapping with AA), but with 150bb, do you think most villains flat or shove AK?

So, I bet small on the flop and think I'm doing it with all my range. When called I figured that I probably wouldn't get called many streets by a pocket pair or weaker aces (which he might holds if he's a fish) so I checked, aware that he could try to take a stab here on the turn. I called hoping that the river would check-check. I ended up calling because I showed weakness so far and he could have plenty of bluffs based on action. Your thoughts? What do you think is the best line here?

I'm rarely facing this situation where I get action when I 4-bet bluff with an ace AND connect on the flop.

Thx!

Just call pre though. You don't have stats, and there's still enough worse hands you'll be 3-bet with here for AJs to be worth a call. As played, just check the flop. There's really no value in betting here vs and unknown.

As played, c/f the turn. 4-bet pot at these stakes, someone isn't calling and then betting the turn as a bluff or KK or worse. You'll get smaller pairs checked down in this spot, and better hands betting. So once you be the flop, you define your opponents range pretty solidly to AQ+ and strong pairs that will cal a street and look to get to showdown.

Thx!

I noticed that most people playing zoom at this limit have a hard time folding JJ+ in this spot and feel like they are somehow committed by calling the 4-bet and calling flop. I would have called 3 streets against a reg.

Results :

He ended up showing pocket 9s!

AJ is kinda a gross hand to 4-bet with as a bluff. Can't make anything short of a broadway straight that you feel good stacking off with. You fold out all hands you beat.

Just read the showdown. Should make you rethink your strategy against this player. You're not really bluffing with AJ here preflop.

Clearly it was a flat preflop, seems clear to me too, as I said it's tilt.

Happy ending but will learn the lesson ;)
