Reg plays 17/15/9 (VP/PF/3B). He is going to be 3-betting us light here a decent amount, especially with our isolation of the fish. Are we happy with a 4-bet bluff occasionally? Sizing OK?

if he's 3-betting light then why 4-bet?

If this is 6 max, then villain is not betting light all that much. Not according to those stats anyway. If it was a 9 seat table with only 6 filled, then a case could possibly be made that villain is a bit loose, but nowhere near what I would judge able to bet light a decent amount.

Your hand is worth seeing a flop for sure, but pot control in this case could have been simply calling his .60 cent raise.

Something that hasn't been discussed around here lately is pot control.

Just flat. If he's 3betting light you frequently have him dominated (plus AJs has fantastic implied odds), so see a flop.

People are not 3betting you light a lot when you isolate fish!

Also their 3betting ranges are usually so tight here that AJs has REVERSE implied odds. I don't mind occasionally taking a line like this vs someone i know definitely is reiosing the fish wide, but $1.20 would be a better sizing.

Keep it simple!

Also think vs most regs in this spot, especially 5nl ones that folding to the 3bet is far > calling

can you explain how min raising is > than raising to $1.40 ,not too shore how this is keeping it simple , by min raising we don't learn anything about his range (just building a pot OOP) , if I was to raise this I would make it $1.60 , at least then we put the pressure on Villain . I just think that a min raise is not going to get a fold very often , and this would be a good result if hes 3 betting something like mid pair or AQ. Where as we are giving him better pot odds to call if we min click?

sizing is fine OOP. However most villain regs aren't flat calling 4 bets.

well if we just min raise them, we are giving them very attractive pot odds to call so maybe they should call

agree on fold

At 5NL, bluffing in general doesn't get you far...

@scottish mat, i really dont mind this play. as long as you got rid of it when he shoved. i would make it something like 1.85 though. to make sure im giving a clear message.

Too much for a 4 bet size. Hardly anyone calls 4 bets anyway.

OOP - 2.5x is fine
IP - 2x is fine

Ya this guy is more of a nit than anything. I think folding is going to be the best option here unless there is some big history between the two of you and/or you know this guy is capable of thinking a bit deeper than most NL5 regs do in this spot. I wouldn't give too many of the regs (even the good ones) at NL5 credit for understanding the whole re-iso and isolator thing yet. Usually they are just 3betting their normal range here.
