It's not correctly. We had cheap to get in and try to catch the thrips. And lose, if not lucky on the flop.

My concern is that it's hard to get paid off when set-mining out of position. I prefer to play speculative hands aggressively. And I thought that I could get a decent amount of fold equity just by Cbetting the flop, since I could represent TPTK, top set and overpairs so well.

I cant say whether or not you played it correctly, but I probably would have done the same. Dont want to setmine OOP anyway.

Looking at my bottom line, tho, maybe that means it is bad.....;)

Any reads on CO? Any reason to barrel again here vs him? I mean, once you lead the flop and get called, check/folding OTT sucks, but bet/calling sucks too. Still, the turn is a brick, and you could get weak Q and smaller pairs, AK etc out with another barrel..??

Once you lead the flop and check the turn a check/shove OTR would look mean as hell tho...........

I'm good with pre raise with 77 since on 6-max more action works well, now flop raise, then check, why? i think it's mistake here you need hold your line with cbets, and try rep TPTK

It can be ok to 3 bet with this hand as it definitely plays better hu than multiway, your hand basically becomes a set mining hand multiway. This flop hits calling ranges up and obvious 3 overs to your hand check fold and move on.

This looks like a check/fold flop to me.

Having said that, I play this hand the same way often, too.

Can someone please explain to me which board textures I should turn my hand into a bluff by Cbetting versus which board textures I should just check/fold? This is something I've always struggled with.

When all three cards are 8/9/T/J/Q, that hits his preflop calling range so insanely hard that we're going to be a huge dog without a very strong holding ourselves.
Make it two-tone or mono-tone and we're in even worse shape.

Although a mono-tone board lends itself better to a bluff because he'll be hard-pressed to call without a high flush card.

I'd be very interested in other people's opinion as well, though.

This actually makes a lot of sense. Thank you.

I don't think you played this "incorrectly" but there are definitely different lines that you could take. I'm calling 77 in BB vs CO and check folding with only one back door draw. There's really now reason to continue with out more options on the flop.

As played, 3bet looks fine, cbet looks fine, turn check is good too. River you could call with 77 as a bluff catcher or fold depending. With villain's bet size it's really close either way. If they're a thinking reg..... Ya pretty close.

Pre is a call. Most people have stronger ranges for isolating and fold less to a 3-bet. Flop is a check-fold. It hits his calling range way too hard.
