Probably the worst turn card for us.

After that hits we have to take a more conservative line. We have position so we have the luxury to control the pot somewhat.

So when we have 2 pair it's great to build a nice pot especially top 2 is great and low chance for opponent to have a set. But when this other card hits so much catches us.

Pretty pointless betting when we have a good chance we are behind?
Just think what raises/calls you on the turn.

Why pot the turn here? As played, flat raise and fold river if he jams and you dont boat up. You beat j10 that he could be value raising.

yeah you should be betting big to protect your hand, but pot may be a bit much. maybe 3/4 on the turn.

i guess id flat his min raise , and hope we boat up, but i would say AK 3b's here a lot pre so seems like we have to call.

River play???

I never try and think protection. I always think i'm betting because weaker hands will call me, I don't want to stop the action if i'm in favour.

Up until the point where he raised, I honestly thought I was betting for value. I thought there were enough top pair hands in his range that I was ahead of. I realise now that it's a lot closer than I thought.

I think on the river I'm checking behind if I can. I'll take IPlay's advice and fold to a jam, and I'll fold to a bet if a 9, A, or J hits.

Yeah, this is the mind set I'm trying to adopt. I think it helps you focus on getting maximum value out of your hands. It does get me into trouble sometimes as well though.

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

i think checking the turn would be a huge mistake here, i like your barrel and betting quite big makes sense too. When raised its a horrible spot and you're beat a lot, i dont know if i can bring myself to fold to the min sizing but certainly to anymore aggression on the river.

Not much you can do but call now. .You could be splitting, he could be over valuing JT. It's hard to say after only 3 hands.
