My image is TAG. Villain is generally fairly inactive.

I'm obviously guilty of not better defining the villain's hand. But what do you do here anyway?

(edited for accuracy: villain inactive not "passive" as stated before)

Based on the play at the table so far what range do you put villain on and why? Does this guy play marginals like KJ for a PF raise?

Also, I know that you know you're TAG, but have the table been folding to your bets? At this level alot of players don't think past "This is what I have" let alone assessing your style. have you been dragging lots of uncontested pots?

If a passive player makes a big bet at a known TAG, I'd be inclined to fold and wait for another spot.

I haven't been in a pot with this guy yet. He's been here 9 hands and this is the 1st he's played (besides completing once in the SB with no showdown). PF, I speculate and put him on A10+, KQs, middle PP+ given his PF bet.

In the time he's been here, actually on reviewing HH, I've only played 1 hand which didn't go to showdown, so my image is largely irrelevant to him probably.

Wouldn't AA/KK/QQ/AK/AQ bet this amount to open?

Also he's leading OOP. I think you are behind to an overpair personally.

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 42.472% 37.78% 04.69% 1064 132.00 { 77+, AJs+, AJo+ }
Hand 1: 57.528% 52.84% 04.69% 1488 132.00 { AsJs }

I think this is fair considering the stakes.

Had it been higher stakes, ie 50NL, I would say this is very often a big pair, and sometimes an unimproved big ace.

p.s., calling the flop bet is fine. Raising for info is bad because (ty, dbitel) 1) we put more money in the middle vs hands we're behind and 2) we scare off hands that we have beat. I like calling, and reevaluating on the turn. Again, had this been at the stakes I play (25NL and 50NL), I'd be pretty sure this was a big pair, and would have to fold. Not quite sure what it means at 1c/2c though.

Yeah, sometimes those "inactive" players are playing Phil Helmuth's 10 starting hands and that's it.

On the other hand, they often don't know how to play them after the flop and think their going to win with their TT or AK because they waited so long for them.

My guess it's 50/50 whether they've got AA/KK/QQ/JJ/99 or they've got AK/TT/AQ.

given his preflop raise, I'm more inclined to think hes holding KK, QQ or possibly an outside chance that he is holding the remaing Jacks(not likely but possible).
IMO an inactive player is more likely to be a solid TAG player and you are beat here.

Too much action, this does smell like an overpair at the very least, if not something even bigger. I like the fold.
