Hi guys, 2 interesting hands I have played last night at a cash game where I am not sure if my plays were justified. Live $2/$4 table
Hand 1
Villain(CO): ~ $400. He just 3 outed me in a big pot couple orbits before where I hero called his all in bluff with AK high against his KQ high
Hero (BTN): ~ $650.
UTG+2 limped, Villain(CO) limped. Hero(BTN) raised to $16 with Jd10d. Blinds folded, both limpers called. Flop 8c 8s 2d. Both checked to Hero who cbet $32 hoping to take down the pot. Villain smooth called.
Turn Js. Hero was confident he had the best hand putting Villain on a medium to small pair. Villain check called $72. River 3c. Villain checked again. Hero made a marginal value bet of $140. Villain called and shower AsJh. Not sure if Hero should made the river bet but Villian's line was pretty weak?
Hand 2
Villain(UTG+2): ~$ 500
Hero(BTN): ~ $550
Sleeper straddle is on. Hero is last to act preflop on the button.
UTG and Villain both limped to Hero on the BTN with 6d9d. Hero raised to $ 42 hoping to take down. Both UTG and Villain called.
Flop 5c 8s 2d. Both players checked to Hero. Hero had bet almost 90% throughout the night when checked to on the flop, so he did not want to get blown out of the pot with 4 outs if the players in front happen to have a hand or suspect hero was making a play. Turn 2s. Both players checked to Hero again. Hero bet $110. Villain called after a long tank.
River Js. Villain checked again. Knowing 8 high was probably no good, Hero bet $ 260. Villain called after tanking for 3 minutes and showed AdJc... Genuinely shocked to see that hand.
Asked the Villian afterwards about his plan on the river if a blank hit and he claimed he would have led out to bluff me off the hand because he suspect I was bluffing on the turn. I should have probably bet the flop but I don't think Villain could possibly call the river had he not hit a Ace or Jack. Other than the missing flop bet, had I make any mistake in this hand and should I give up the turn and river bet in retrospect?
Many thanks for your kind insights.
