Hi guys I played an interesting hand at a 2/5 NL table at the Venetian in Las Vegas and would like some feedback on the way I approached the hand.

Starting stacks:

Hero: $600
Villain: $800

UTG limps. Hero in MP opens to $25 holding Q:spade: Q:diamond: Villain in MP2 calls, Hi Jack, CO, BTN, and UTG all call.

The flop comes: J:spade: T:club: 2:heart: $157 in pot

It gets checked around to me so I bet $100. Villain in MP2 3 bets to $240. Everyone else folds. Hero calls.

The turn brings an: 8:diamond: $637 in pot

Hero checks. Villain bets $380. Hero???

Villain has been playing fairly loose but not getting too out of line. I have been involved in previous pots with him and he has played fairly straight forward poker. I don't think villain is raising here with a set given board texture so the only hand I see him doing this with is JT for two pair. I also think that villain would flat my flop raise if he had a hand like Q9 to try and hit his straight. Would you guys just stack off on the turn with an overpair in this spot?

Thanks for the feedback guys!!!!

To be if you are going to get it in you have to get it in on the flop, on this turn you beat exactly nothing so I tend to think fold is better play.

I would more like to fold here.
but some part of the chance you could call, hope get a river check showdown.
if player think you bet-call flop with AQ,AK type of hand, he may use JX for value.
so your QQ may beat his, AJ, KJ, JQ,J9 type of hand.

but I think most of the time, you are already behind @turn.
as you mentioned, Hijack player play fairly straightforward poker, therefore when he got flop raise, it is already a very strong range.

Hi LeGenie. I definately think you should fold here, because as you describe his position he may be thinking the same about your hand? I suspect he may have a overpair as well, AA or KK? But a definate fold in your position. gl Marc :D:D:D

As played, you should call getting those odds with an overpair.

With your reads of this guy been very loose and playing his draws passively the better play IMO was to make decision on flop of calling and gii on brick turns such as the 8 or fold right then and there multiway and given he limped flatted u and other callers pre; he could easily have a set there an play it that way.

Bottom line, make decision on flop and on that turn we can't fold otherwise you just leaked 240$ OTT alone.

I have to agree with some of the other posts. You should make your decision earlier. As you said, he plays a bit lose but fairly straightforward so he is very unlikely to be raising the flop with Q9. Sets and JT are the most likely holdings here or perhaps KQ (I assume he is 3 betting preflop with KK/AA). If your assessment on the flop puts him on top 2 pair u need to Lay down there. However, once you called the flop raise I think you need to go all the way on the turn. If he holds JT, you do have 9 outs and you may even be ahead (unlikely).
Good luck

I would have folded on his 3bet flop.

You said he played straightforward poker and so I believe him.

As played, I would surely fold on the turn.
