Playing 2-5 NLH. I am in the hijack seat with 10h7h. There is a $10 straddle and 4 callers in front of me. I have been pretty much card dead so far in this session and I'm getting at least 5:1 odds so I decide to call. The button calls, the two blinds call and the original straddler makes it $45 to go. All of the original callers make this call so I'm still getting better than 5:1 and I call and the players behind me call. There is now $360 in the pot.

The flop is Kh, 8s, 3h. The original raiser goes allin for $260. There are 3 players to act behind me. Should I make the call?

fold preflop?

A bit late for folding preflop advice :) As I said, I was pretty much card dead and wanting to play a hand. However, getting at least 5:1 odds, I want to see a flop with off-nominal hands like this because the payoff for hitting them is huge!

But, that wasn't really the question. At this point, I am getting over 2:1 on a call even if nobody behind me calls. If I had the nut flush draw, it would be a no-brainer but, in this situation, someone might have a bigger flush draw so that had to be considered.

Your biggest edge in poker is what you choose to play preflop. Fish play everything, good players are selective. Stop blowing it.

2ndly, the straddle makes the stack to pot ratio smaller, which is worse for a hand like T7s. You want lots of money behind once you get to the flop so you can draw and still have money behind to get paid. The straddle (and especially the raise) make that damn near impossible. Add that to the fact that live games often have people playing short of 100bb's and this is a really easy fold pre.

Yeah, you can call once you hit the flop.

Like others say, easy fold pre. Being card dead is a terrible excuse for playing terrible hands. Buuuttttt, why call pre if your going to fold this flop? Were you planning on only putting money in if you flop trips or a straight?

The problem with playing this hand multiway is that it has great reverse implied odds, especially live where people are playing any suited ace and k10, j10 suited type of hands so you are kind of asking to get coolered.

OK, here's what actually happened.

I called and one person behind me called.

The original bettor turned over KK (flopped set).

The turn card was the Ah.

Yay!!

The river card was a 5 (paired the board).

boo!!
