Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 15.79/1.91/0.92

I haven't played any real poker since black Friday, so I'm still a little rusty. When the villains checked through this flop, I figured this would be a good place to take a shot at the pot. Would you have done anything on the flop? Is this a good turn to make a move? Should I have even been in the hand?

I dont mind the call pre as long as the UTG opener is tight from UTG and the BTN is a fish, being oop I wanna make sure ive got a good chance of being paid if im gonna be all limpy and speculative.

If thats the UTG stats (15/1) then I probs still check the turn though, theres loads of bigger PP that he might have checked a K high flop with, like he's not folding TT-QQ there if we bet the turn. By betting I think the only hand we could make him fold is AQ, when his range could be a bit wider than that.

We called pre to hit a nice flop and stack some overpairs, that hasn't happened and the 9 doesnt improve our hand that much imo.

I agree with Orangepeeleo in this spot. He is never going to fold pocket pairs that are higher than your pair without some serious pressure. In this spot i think it is also very plausable that he checked back AK on the flop to allow you and the player on the BTN to catch a smaller pair and pay him off.

As you are oop in this hand you don't really want to be leading and seeing a call from either player because without the river being a 9 you are left with a tough decision and will probably not get to a cheap showdown. By checking once again you allow players behind to bluff and take stabs at the pot with worse. For example if the UTG player checks once more its pretty likely he has missed and given up with AQ or AJs, this would then allow the player on the button to take a stab at the pot with hands like J10s or SC similar to yours that would make a call pre flop.

I see what everyone is saying. I did call to just try and hit a good hand. I just just get into the hand and figured since everyone was showing such weakness on this flop it would be a good idea to try and take it on the turn. Being OOP in this hand probably should have given me even more reason to just let go of the hand since I didn't hit anything.

Had the flop given us four to a flush and the action was still the same, how much differently would you treat the turn?

I heard its hard to extract value from these kind of hands when we're OOP. You calling because UTGs range is so tight and he'll pay us off or because of that +drooler btn?

That, and I'm getting 5:1. He's a 16/2, so when he raises UTG, he's spewing implied odds like a fire hydrant. We're essentially set mining here, with the added bonus of a fish in the pot.
