$4 NL HE Full Ring: TPTK on flop, Hero ?

Stack sizes : (Hero : 5,00) (CO : 4,90)

Preflop:
Hero is MP3 with A, T
5 folds, Hero raises to $0,20, CO calls $0,20, 3 folds.

Flop: ($0,46) T, 5, 8 (2 players)
Hero bets $0,44, CO calls $0,44.

Turn: ($1,34) J (2 players)
Hero bets $1,20, CO calls $1,20.

River: ($3,74) 6 (2 players)
Hero checks, CO checks.

Final Pot: $3,74

Still wondering if I did ok with this one, should I've check/folded when the J came, fearing the straight or did I play correctly ?Had absolutely no read on villain so he may have called with Q-9 or even 7-9 since he is in LP.

I have a whole lot of hands like these where I might have the best hand on the flop and when a "scary" card comes on the turn or river, I get lost about my hand's strength. I also have difficulty folding hands like these, thinking I'm being bluffed :(.

I'm still new to this so... don't flame me.

TIA,

ARU

Preflop I fold this in MP3 unless I am very familiar with the table. To easy to end up in a dominated situation and oop not a good combination.

I think the turn bet the river check are fine. You will be called by all kinds of draws as the turn brings a back door flush draw into play as well as the straight. Betting the river you will probably only be called by better so you check to possibly induce bluffs. Would you have called a reasonable bet by villian?

Just my opinion fwiw.

Well, As I see it now, no. But I'm often afraid of being bluffed out of pot... I guess I'll have to work on this :D

One thing that I missed before that you might want to consider also is your bet sizing, on the flop if you bet .30 instead of .44, the turn pot is only 1.06 allowing you to bet .75 instead of 1.20, that prevents you from building a huge pot with just a Second Piar on the turn.

As you played it your stacks on the river are the size of the pot now and you will be forced to fold to a shove allowing your self to be bluffed out on the river as you don't usually want to stack 2nd pair in full ring games.

You have built a big pot with a small pot hand. You betting would be great if you had say a set of 10's for example.

I take no credit for it, "small hand small pot, big hand big pot" is straight out Phil Gordon's Little Green Book.
