So this is the first time I post a hand. I want to know if it was the correct move to fold in this situation. I'm new so if anything doesn't belong here let me know.

You should bet the flop not the turn, your A is much more credible then.
And bet more than that < 1/2 pot size, 2/3 or 3/4 pot will do.

As played I would probably call, villain is betting scared, he either has air or a monster (people are afraid to bet their good hands at that level) and his bet is tiny compared to what you already invested.

He probably has a busted fl draw, a Q or an A here, maybe a spiked 7 on the river, anyway even if you're beat most times it's ok, you only have to be right a bit more than 25% of the time to make it a profitable play.

Plus you get to see his betting pattern here, if he slowplayed an AK make a note on that for future reference.

I thought the raise was fine. Should have been .08 or .09 then?

I agree with you that I should have bet the flop, not the turn. Since he limped from the beginning I put him with a Q-10, Q-J, even a weak Ace.

Sorry for being a shortstacker, but I'm trying to build a BR from 0, and it's damn hard :p

Raises should always account for limpers. You should be adding 1bb for each limper to your raises or you're giving the limpers better odds to call and if one limper calls it has a domino effect and they all call. You want to punish people for limping and you want to keep the pot HU or 2 way if possible. If your standard raise is 3x then in this spot you should have raised it to .08 at least. At 2nl your standard raise could actually be 4x or 5x + 1bb per limper. This also means that you should never be open limping and try to limit your callin preflop to when you think that no one is gonna fold to a raise, this will be table dependent.

You're in the bb so your gonna be OOP for the hand. If you want to raise this hand you should raise it to .10 at least. Then you have to absolutely c bet this flop which is essentially turning your hand into a bluff but to your opponent this would seem to hit your pre flop raising range. Pretty hard for him to call unless he caught a piece of the flop. If he calls then I would shut down and not put anymore money into the pot. Of course none of this makes sense with a 40bb stack cause by this time you cant fold or play the hand properly since your SPR is so low.

Is there a reason you want to build your BR from $0? The reason I ask is that it will take a very long time and hardly worth the time and effort. You will most likely learn some bad habits along the way because you will always be playing with scared money and with the variance in poker you will need to hit a real good run of cards to build from zero. It would be a lot more fun to deposit and learn the game properly. Playing with 100bb stacks is the way to go. In this hand you really are committed with any raise you make preflop and a cbet. You just cant fold anymore. Im guessing that might be the reason you didnt c bet and the had to fold anyways. This is why playing with a SS just doesnt work. You pretty much had to push all in preflop.

Anyways this got a little tl;dr but whatevs.

Guys on 0.01-0.02 are weird. Many of them aren't betting. They have Full house and wait for yoy to give them money.
Good fold.
It is Full Tilt-low pocket pairs are loosing LOT of times there. If you have 88 and there is T on the flop you can be pretty sure that your opponent had one T.
That's FT
You will be impressed how many times you can be dealt KK against AA

Truth to be told, I was not playing as a SS (even though I'm one) if I push all in with my pocket eights, most likely I'm getting called with the range of hands that I mentioned, and obviously the flop there wasn't gonna help me at all, Thus, losing all my money.

I'm aware of the 1BB raise for each limper, that's a must playing SSS. I guess I was thinking he was gonna fold since we were HU at the time. Of course there's a reason for me to want to start from 0, it's a challenge, a way of proving myself that is possible. I was very inspired by Ferguson's, that I thought "Why don't do it myself?" of course I know is not that simple, it requires a lot of time, effort and proper BRM.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions, I really appreciate them, all of them help me to become a better player. :)

Keep this trash in the rigged thread where it belongs, plesae. OP don't get influenced by this sort of talk, if you get to adjusting your play because you think the deal isn't fair you'll never be a winner.

Brank said it better than I could, you are losing a lot of value building from 0, plus you can learn the game the wrong way, stay too much in a nano level etc.

You are not Chris Ferguson.

QJ,QT or a weak Ace is a pretty narrow range to give some who could really have anything, they are limping after all. If you're not gonna c bet this flop then just check it down, dont bother betting the turn.

If you're not depositing and trying to start from $0 then you wont even be able to use proper BR management. Like I said before you're gonna have to run amazingly good to even be rolled for 2nl.

He was asking for help on this hand, not for someone to call his challenge silly.

Geez.

And that was offered. Also an explanation why this type of challenge might be 'silly', which is not meant to offend but meant for OP to realize that if he wants to succeed at poker giving up months of proper learning and playing for a short-term ego boos is not the way to go.

Thank you both for your responses. I wasn't able to reply since I've a restriction of post before I hit 65.. anyway, just to make clear the challenge was not about an ego boost. I was honestly trying to build a bankroll from 0, but I understand everything you guys have told me. I can't use a BRM method if I don't have enough bankroll to begin with.

Also I'm forced to play as a Shortstacker since I don't have enough BB to play even at the lowest limits, becoming every hand a coin flip (all-in post-flop, or pre-flop with premium hands)

I've been playing for awhile now, studying everything I can, analyzing everything I can, that's why I'm here, posting right now, to improve as a player, improvement never ends.

There are forums and such out there that have a staking category, I'm sure you could find staking for 4NL :)
