Villian is running 22/9/1.8, 3B 0, 4B 0, over 170 hands.

UTG opener is super aggro 75/65/inf, 3B 25 over 20 hands.

I've seen villian limp behind with AKs on the button, so when he 4 bets i'm putting him on QQ+

His 4 bet sizing was too small so i decided to setmine and not put another cent into the pot if i don't hit set.

But i'm not sure if calling 4 bets to setmine is a profitable play in the long run even if i know villians range is too strong.

What do you guys think of this hand? Should i have folded pre?

Based on line you took, and assuming he does not give you any river action:

1. you pay 0.26 to call the 4-bet and win total of 1.44 (flop pot) + 0.72 (turn bet) = 2.16

2. your odds of hitting the set on the flop are around 8 to 1 while 2.16 / 0.26 = 8.3

So it is +EV to set mine here even if you fold to flop bet.

Since you get to see the turn for free then this is massively +EV assuming your J does not scare him into passivity :)

If he gets scared due to a J (which he shouldn't since he has overpair), then you get odds of 1.44 / 0.26 = 5.5 to 1 which is a clear fold.

Fold to 4 bet. We arent getting great odds to set mine and villain seems to be a 3/4 bet nit.

As played you hit a near perfect flop and x/f? If you're going to call then at least bet the flop.
