Hand 1: Raise preflop, shove the turn.
Hand 2: The turn card is a good card to check/raise, and if you're going to lead the turn, your bet sizing is horrible. Bet close to pot.

You bet too small, and you're too passive preflop. You probably play the same loose/passive game that most 2$ NL players play.

Read this thread for ring game play at micro cash games.

https://www.cardschat.com/f49/how-beat-nl-10-isnt-book-90173/

But yeah u need to raise preflop, spesh with AQ. He sucked out on u, dont sweat it.
The other hand, what c9h13no3 said. Ur bet is too low on flop. On the turn bet pot or shove bcos he's got Q-x or drawing on turn...

Look at the Golden Archives and Strategy Articles sections of the forums.

One of the first things I read here is ChuckTs 10K post in GA, strongly recommend it.

Your bets are too small...this is something I have just figured out for myself. If you try to string along an opponent for maximum value, they can definitely suck out on you. When you have the best hand, bet like you have the best hand...unless you have the absolute nut hand, in which case feel free to let your opponents see cards to hang themselves with.

Yeh I am just kinda figuring this aswell. I have probably read it somewhere but not in laymans terms like that.

So the key is when you have a very good hand (two pair or trips) on the flop you need to force your opponents out of their draws before they become flushes or straights.

Um, no. You want them to call with their draws. But you want them to pay too much to do so.

If someone has a flush draw on the flop, they have about a 20% chance (or 1:4) of hitting their flush on the turn. Thus, anytime they call a bet that gives them worse than 4:1 pot odds, you profit. The worse pot odds they call, the more you profit. So if your opponent will call a pot sized bet (2:1 pot odds), then bet that much.

Of course, if he calls with terrible pot odds, and then you proceed to spew a TON of money to him when he makes his flush, that usually negates his bad call on previous streets.

But the key is this: Bet as large as you think a draw will call, and get your money in the pot while you're ahead, and when they suck out pay them nothing.

***WARNING*** completely unrelated opinion here..

If you're new to poker you might want to play some SnG's and tournaments first. Cash games can murder a bankroll quickly.
