Just wondering if my turn raise was okay. He did limp, but mainly because he doesn't raise too much in general, which I wasn't thinking too much about. Do we just call turn? He could only call with an ace, and probably couldn't fold that. I guess I can't bluff too many river, since he isn't folding often enough at all...

And then, what do y'all think about preflop? I posted a hand about a suited ace on here a few days ago, and basically was told that if you're playing a speculative hand from the button, you might as well come in for a raise.

I'm ok with raising this preflop! I'm not raising the turn here, I'd just call. The guy looks super passive so when he bets out on the turn he has something even though his bet sizing is really bad. Try not to bluff this type of player it hardly ever works.

I do not like your raise preflop... Folding may be a better choice as your 87 are not suited and can hardly hit something...

Yea, thanks all for the feedback!

I agree.. I analyzed the hand a bit later and decided the small turn bet is either an incredibly weak hand (that still has us beat and won't pay us off when we hit) or a monster that is never folding (by monster I just mean 2 pair+ lol)

I think I was just caught up in my sudden equity boost, I forgot to think about this bet sizing and how I should react to it.

Pre-flop, for me, the play miight be losing money, but in theory I think it's fine. And if it is, only slightly, since it does get folds every now and then :)

Looking at the preflop I think iso raising this fish with his stats is ok. If you limp you might get squeezed by the blinds.
His check call on the flop looks like a weak ace or 2nd pair. I think raising the turn is ok just make it bigger you have to put on more pressure here...put yourself in his shoes with A4 would you fold to your bet here?Playing a hand as weak as 87 means you are going to have to bluff often to take down the hand. Here you have an oesd so plenty of justification for sticking in a decent raise here. The main problem here is can this guy lay down A4.... probably not to anything other than a shove.
Unfortunately it looks like he has hit 2 pair here so folding is fine

Yea thanks Figaroo,

I wasn't really thinking about that. I suspect this player will play any ace from any position, never fold to a raise pre. A4 may have folded to a shove turn, but probably best to avoid spots like that, since better ones will come.

If he gets a decent pair it'll be hard to bluff him out, so that decreases the value of the raise preflop.
