I'd like to hear what you think about my play preflop.

Villain is 15/6 over 123 hands with a very, very low preflop AF. Also only 3bets about 5% of the time preflop.

At the time, I had a feeling that this was the correct call against this player. To be honest, I won't deny that I called his 3bet because I got a bit too attached to my pretty "soooted" hand.

Is this ever a good move? My plan was to fold if I missed the flop, so was there really a reason to call?

Once he checked, I figured I could show aggression.

Overall, despite the result (which is not relevant to this analysis), I don't think I played this hand well at all.

What do you think?

Fold to the 3bet 100% of the time. Calling 3bets OOP sucks. Calling 3bets OOP with a dominated hand sucks even more.

Pretty basic and pretty right-on advice, huh? I was lucky to get lucky but realized pretty much as soon as I called the 3bet that I was making the wrong move.

I think that's my spewiness for the most part: Getting "excited" and then pushing too hard with really marginal holdings (and let's not forget the occasional "I'm not letting you push me off my hand!")

If I could just control those two impulses, I'd have a much higher win rate.

Well this hand actually illustrates perfectly why calling here is a huge mistake. You hit TP and won basically nothing. Now what happens when your opponent has AK/KK/AA/AQ? You lose A LOT.
