Can I fold here?? Getting sick odds to call, and the only hands that beat us are AA and 88. Not sure if I made the wrong decision raising the flop but I did it so I could take over the initiative and keep pressure on against Ax that probably hates folding but might not keep barreling if I'm check/calling.

Get it in. There are 12 possible combos of AA and 88 that beat you. Otoh, there are 12 of AK that you beat, so even excluding the possibility that he has other Ax holdings in his range, the pot odds make it a call.

I cant think whats in his range for opening UTG+1 apart from AA and AK.

I think we can c/r bigger on the flop, to like 50c maybe, i think AA would just pummel the money in though otf so i think its ok for the turn and river.

We cant fold river i guess

'Can I fold here?? Getting sick odds to call, and the only hands that beat us are AA and 88.'

people overplay top pair sometimes.

raising the flops fine, decent regs might pot control at some time in the hand and you want stacks so raise the flop 100% imo.

A 17/8 opens 96/64 from UTG+1? I doubt it. I think we can discount that particular hand completely, as the above posters did.

Yeah sorry, straight got there, but I discounted that as villain is never in a million years raising that hand - ESPECIALLY not UTG+1...

I just dunno why he's ever shoving AQ+ there... Even with AK he can't LOVE his hand, right? The guy isn't some crazy spazzing fish. He's not thinking too deeply but he has to realize I have a hand, right?

88 actually (not sure why he's raising that UTG+1, but oh well).

Plus I think if he's going nuts with AK, he's gonna go nuts on the flop, right? Not the river.

Yeah that was my next guess, but someone would have to be really really bad to go crazy with AK on that flop so dry, I could see some bad regs/semi regs goin nuts on the river with the board just being so so dry thinking TPTK is the stone cold nuts. Not real surprised to see AA or 88 there though. Just a dumb cooler.

Your flop raise is way too small. As played how are you even considering folding the river? It's a snap call. You said it yourself, there's like 2 hands that beat you, it's just a cooler if he happens to have one of them.

Okay thanks for the input everyone.

Maybe it seems obvious to everyone, and I THOUGHT it was, but sometimes it's helpful to post the hands you think you played okay/was just a cooler, just to be sure. Always harder to look at your own hands objectively.
