Apologies - this is my first hand post so forgive me if I've broken all etiquette rules! :)confused: ). I layed down my poket pair to villain's re-raise. I sensed a bluff but gave him credit as I didn't have much on him. Once I folded he then chatted - Don't ever raise my blind again? Which suggested that he bluffed and was fairly pleased with himself. Should I have called him?

Believe me when someone does that they always had you beat.

As played I think the fold is ok. I normally hate calling down in these spots but I think a 3 is unlikely and this flop is begging to be bluffed at.

However on the other side of the coin when you are ahead you aint by much. Your 50/50 to beat flushdraws/overcards and your a mere 3 to 1 favourite against bear overcards and u aint gunna know were your at.

Its a marginal decision which could go either way and I wouldn't let it bother you either way.

why would you fold 88s to a pfr??
i think the flop is either push/fold... a call is very tough to play on a turn overcard..

Pushing here is horrible.
We get him to fold when he's behind and he stacks us when he's ahead.

Easy fold. You can pick better spots than that. Also consider folding this preflop.

And convert your hands via this: https://www.cardschat.com/hand/

Why would we fold pocket 8's to a standard raise preflop? Maybe we dont have the best hand, but its not impossible and if we hit a set we are more likely to get value with more people in the pot(more chances someone hit a hand). I think this is a pretty standard call preflop.

Also folding to the reraise is fine, dont get yourself in marginal spots at these stakes. You can be profitable by just peddling the nuts and folding weak hands.

he also stacking us with a FD which is about a flip if its overs...

but i didnt say push is the move to make... i just find the call very tough because we cant really call any bet on the turn unless we hit one of the remaining 88s.. thats why I said fold/raise... call doesnt give you any info

adding hands which are a coinflip against us to the range of hands that crush us doesn't help our equity much.

It isn't much of a tough spot. We have position and it's doubtful he'll continue bluffing after we've called a raise. We check/fold and if they call one off on the river providing there's only one overcard.
If 2NL players are spewy enough to fire the turn with air then I fold. At 50NL im fine with a call here though. the only hands I can see beating us here is the occasional A3 or a oddly played 99 or TT.
