Likely a fish, and you only need to be right 33% of the time obviously, but I think it's a good fold. He can definitely have a lot of combos on the turn with the As/Ks, not to mention the jackpot 8s.

When you say you need to be right about 33%... Talk like this really is foreign to me, personally I play a lot of poker and I normally know what to call and fold without the mathetical side of things. But i'm interested is there any good reads on this? These marginal decisions is something I am more than happy to try and improve more on.

Also added to this thread. I figured a tight fold even if it was bad, Would mean he'd be encouraged to bluff me more when i'm stronger so was an investment any which way I saw it.

If you call, the total pot would be $2.16 to the winner. $0.72 is one-third (or 33%) of $2.16. In the long run, you only need to win 1 out of every 3 times in this situation for the call to be profitable (or technically break even).

If you can beat 50% of his range, call...
If 75% of his range beats you, fold...
Etc...

All I can say is that if you plan on playing online, and you want long term winning results, you better get to understanding the math of the game. :) I mean, live, you can get away with not know as much because you have a lot of other information you can get from your opponents, and if you're good at processing and reading that info, then you don't need to be as math savy. However, online, you don't have any of that. There's some psychology involved still of course, but if you don't understand the math part, you're just leaving money on the table imho.

You can start by reading my free ebook. There are lots of articles about basic math out there. If you aren't math savy, it's pretty basic math, so you just have to put a little bit of time in to learn and understand it.

Thank you very much... I do know my poker outs but i don't normally think that way. But i think things differently like his betting habbits how many pots as he been in lately? Steaming? .. .A lot of things i can pick up on and i know when to re-raise the river most of the time.

running at 20.38 over 3.5k hands so far for the month.. Still early but i'll enjoy the heater. I'm always interested at learning more due to the fact i know i need to get sharper at those skills at the higher level. If i hadn't done the hard annoying work at 2nl i wouldn't be what i am today... Hopefully i can say that about 6 and 10nl when i'm at 50nl and i will be there ... But it's all patience :)

Read Ace on the river during Friday afternoon after work. Glad i read it there was a couple things i found interesting. Being a bad winner and a few psychological things and being careful at the casino.

Anyways thanks for your replies guys with this thread.
