Checking wasnt bad. Since bb lead out at the turn and you called, that 3rd heart was probably a scare card. Plus with the 3 overs to his/her pair You probably wouldnt have gotten a call anyway, so might as well just check and hope they bet out. And checking also allows opponent to bet out big if they would have made a flush.

You flopped quads. At some point you have to start trying to build a pot. I think you missed a lot of value here.

A good line would actually be to donk all 3 streets. I don't think he'll give you credit for a 3 (let alone 2) and may well pay you off with 55.

Mostly I think this is a case of being in bad position against weak hands. Only thing I can see is possibly betting into the flop may have got you some action from the pocket 5's. However checking was probably the correct play since you have to imagine that UTG would CBet the flop. Everyone checked so he took a stab at the turn.. I don't think he would call anything on the river.. only chance was for him to take another stab but he obviously was giving you credit.

I agree 100% with this state-ment no more money was coming to you, maybe and only maybe had you bet the flop then sure 5s might've called, or even check raised you, but I mean (We can only speculate about it now)

There are certainly times when you don't get your big hands paid off. But my point was that if you donk out the flop, 55 will go '...would he do that with a 3?? I doubt it. Surely he'd check...'

You'd be surprised at how people react to bet, bet, bet.
