$4 NL HE 6-max: KK on flop with A

4NL 6 handed cash gm on Carbon.

I had KK at CO. MP+1 open min-raises to 8c. I reraised to 20c. All fold around to open raiser who calls.

Board comes AQ4 rainbow. He checks. I checked, not wanting to get check raised off the hand.

Turn’s an 8. He bets only 8c into a pot of 26c. I thought about reraising here but I thought it was likely he had ace rags and will not fold so I just flat called.

River is another 8 (no flush possibility). He bets 16c into 42c. I flat called again.

He had QJ.

Should I have ramped up the aggression here? The reason I was passive is that I thought the chances were good that he had an ace and I wouldn’t be able to push him off any ace.

I would play this hand very differently. I would cbet the flop around 3/4's of the pot. If he doesn't have the ace I win the pot. If he check-raises me or calls I can be pretty confident that he has me beat and happily fold or check/fold to the river (if he lets me).

p.s. I am not saying my way is best. I am a basic TAG-fish player who cbets too much and gives up after the cbet is called/raised.

sounds good to me.

Yes I found that thread myself a day ago and realise its a classical WA/WB now. I think it looks pretty good based on that knowledge.

Standard WA/WB is to fold to river bets but since its so small you're easily priced in.

You mentioned reraising his small bets, when raising (or betting) consider:
1. Will he fold a better hand?
2. Will he call a worse hand?

I'm inclined to think not. He might fold a bad ace but with your check on the flop he's probably thinking your weak. He might call a worse hand like Qx or JJ but you'd need some read that he makes loose calls really.

I would have played iit different too except I prefer making c-bet of 1/2 pot to see where I am and I dont think there is any need to bet 3/4 when you can find the info for cheaper price and then your opponent will fold or call and then you get a better read to see how you play the turn and river accordingly

I would have played it the same - though I would have made my 3-bet slightly bigger.
