Dealt Jack 8 of spades. Villain on the button
in the big blind

Villain raises preflop to 12cent I called.
flop comes, 7,3,10 all off.
I now have a straight draw.
Pre flop raising villain checks, I checked as well. (he has checked trips before so I wanted to be safe)
next card 9 of hearts, giving me a straight,

Villain bets 34cent. I shove the remainder of my stack (had 2 dollars starting)

Villain calls and has trips 7s, my straight is looking very nice.
River comes 10. giving the villain a full house.

My question is, 'Did I make the right shove?'
I had the 'nuts' imho before the river.

Find Poker Stove and download it, it really helps a lot with these things.

It shows that you have 77% equity on the turn, so shove is OK.

It is a small standalone program. You have to manually input the pocket cards and the board but it is super easy and intuitive.

Shove was perfectly fine. Villain might be ok calling shove with a set on the flop (he had like 30% of spiking the boat), but not the turn.

Well I have hit it before so I cant really be mad, its poker after all.

Just it always seems to be the river that kicks you in the nuts or gives you a hug and a cup of coco! its a real woman (no offence ladies of cc)

Im just glad I made the right play. but I got unlucky! Onwards and upwards!
thanks guys

Hit what, the boat? Well you gotta consider your odds of hitting. OTF going into the turn+river, a set has 7 outs to the nuts on the turn, and 10 on the river, so your odds of hitting are like 30%. When the turn misses you have 10 outs and you're down to about 20%, which means you need 4:1 to call a bet there.
