.04 NL 6-max:Fishy Semi-limping AA steals K Hi Straight:Could I have seen it coming?

First off, I've only been playing about a month so still learning a lot. But I find myself subject to this sort of beating frequently. To begin with - yeah I know its not the best idea to play K9o, especially from the blind. But I was 88 hands deep with this guy and his VPIP was 47 and he was like around -400 BB for the session. WHO opens the pot with pocket AA with a raise of 1 BB? The guy'd been consistently raising the pot pre flop 1 BB with like Q6o. At times though he'd start by raising the preflop pot by 9BB. Maybe I could've CBET the flop. But he was the pre flop aggressor. I really don't see what I could've done different here. Is the just bad luck, or can anyone spot anything I did wrong here? Or this just one of the drawbacks of playing bad players - not being able to read their moves because they are so out of the ordinary? Any advice helpful. Thanks!

You have just posted the classic K9 hand and exactly why good players avoid the hand. The great Doyle Brunson is quoted as saying never play this trap hand and if your opponent plays it you know he's weak.
The reason is simple ; any time you make a straight with this hand you are dominated by AK. So you have K9 and the flop comes TJQ you are crushed by AK. If you flop top pair almost any other playable Kx hand will dominate you.
So back to the hand. You nailed it...fold preflop its ok to get into hands with fish but play hands that can flop really strong like all your pairs, suited connectors and 1 gappers and broadways..... Not K9. Also fold on the flop here as well you are not getting the odds to chase your gunshot. You also have no idea if you hit the K whether it will be good enough to win because of the weak kicker. You trapped yourself in the end as any ace beats you so don't blame your opponent here.

Ah, great points about K9 being so easily dominated by so many hands. I guess I need to tighten up and be more disciplined even against very loose opponents. Like I said, I'm super new to the game. But this is really helpful though, thanks!

I agree you need to give up K9 altogether. The other item you should be aware of is min raising (or 1 BB as you called it) is standard with players today. If he's doing it regularly you need to be aware of that. Min raising is common. The trick is min raising with a variety of hands so you can mask wen you have a real hand, as he did with his AA. The more you play the better you will get. Keep it up.
